TokyoMilk Dark Femme Fatale Collection - Arsenic No. 17

This dangerously intoxicating fragrance of sensual vanilla and a dash of sea salt creates a remarkably unique sensory experience. Exotic spices of cardamom and fennel offer an arresting complexity, while absinthe and deep woods round out the come-hither happening. The daring blend of unexpected essences will both hold you in suspense and satisfy your curiosity. Part of the TokyoMilk Dark Femme Fatal Collection, the classic cut-glass bottle with iconic imagery and a gunmetal cap will add a luxurious, enticing flair to your boudoir. Notes:Sea Salt, Vanilla Bean, Cut Greens, Cardamom, Crushed Fennel, Woods, Tonka, Absinthe. Style:Sultry. Curious. Captivating.

I think she will love it...
-04.25.13
Quick Take: good value, unique
I bought this as a gift and I think she will love it. This line is not available in my sephora store but since the rollerball set at christmas this line has certainly gotten my attention. I don't smell the salt (which is the main note that interested me) until it settles a bit, the same for the vanilla. I agree that it smells a little like incense- but not necessarily in a bad way. I sprayed it on my wrist yesterday about 4pm and even though I washed my wrists before bed I could still smell it this morning. To me it comes off almost masculine, but in a sexy way. If you are looking for something light/fresh, this isn't for you. If you are looking for something dark, sultry & a little mysterious you might like this. If this perfume had a city it would be New Orleans. It is definitely something different. It's not for me,but, I think it will be perfect for the woman for whom I bought it.

Quick Take: good value
I just purchased this today, the packaging caught my eye so I decided to give the entire line a smell. I decided on Arsenic because I have never smelt a perfume like this. Its sweet, but not floral, and woodsy. Very sensual. I would recommend to anyone that enjoys earthy scents.

Unique!

Totally smells like Catholic Church Incense when you first spray it on. Let it mellow for a hot second and you are left with this dreamy mysterious scent that certainly stands out. Not for the weak of heart. A fragrance for the thrill seeker. I love it.

Hmm...
-03.22.13
Quick Take: green, chemically, unique
There definitely is some vanilla, a hint of sea salt, and a mix of spices and anise, but it results in a long dry down of something green and chemically. I'm pretty sure this is intentional, as it doesn't smell bad, per se, just obviously not natural (thus, arsenic). I'm vaguely reminded of insect repellant and mothballs, but I think that's mostly the suggestive name and not the scent. It wasn't my favorite but it's definitely unique, and the bottle is super cute. If I'd had a chance to smell this before buying online (always smell your fragrances first!), I'd have left it as the last scent from this line I purchased.

Interesting Scent..
-02.13.13
Quick Take: good value, different, unique, smells good
Very pretty glass bottle, kind of small. I really like this musky, crisp fragrance. A few minutes after a spray the scent gets a little floral. This fragrance is not for every one but if you are looking for a perfume that is a nose-catcher, this is the one for you.

Quick Take: good value
one thing i notice about tokyomilk fragrances is how drastically different they can smell to different people and, not only that, but how drastically different they can smell to the same person throughout the day.
this one, to me, smells sharp out of the bottle. a tangy, almost sour (but not unpleasant) high note that i presume is the absinthe. after wearing it, i do catch a sweet undertone of the fennel and cardamom (i imagine the sweetness comes from the vanilla, but the vanilla itself is undetectable as its own scent.)
my coworker told me i smelled like the beach, and it does remind me a bit of cool water by davidoff. it reminds me more of a cologne than a perfume.
i initially wanted to send this back, but after wearing it all day i found myself wanting to keep smelling it.
it's unique, but not for those who like very girly scents. i tend to go for sweeter smells, so i don't imagine this will be a new every day scent for me, but it's different and will pique peoples interest.

What a wonderful unique scent. I bought it on a whim and didnt really know how often I would wear it. I love perfume, I own twenty or more high end perfumes. I love this, its unusual, lasts all day and makes me smile when smell it. Also makes me smile when I see the bottle, the bottle is the only reason I bought it to begin with!

Utopia.
-01.08.13
Quick Take: travel-friendly, good value, beautiful package, intoxicating, accurately described, alluring
I bought this based purely on what the notes were. I was not at all disappointed. The packaging - completely stunning. The scent is intoxicating. I wouldn't say it is exactly how others described it in their reviews. It's familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. It's the way I envision Utopia smelling. Majestic. Indescribable. Not at all a mundane scent. Will definitely purchase again.

Disappointed
-01.03.13
After reading great reviews...I decided to purchase Arsenic. Feeling really excited when I received the product...I loved the packaging!! but then was sadly disappointed with the scent... It has an unusual fragrance that I didn't like.. It wasn't sultry or captivating...definitely curious.. The scent was not balanced or relaxing..I had to stop smelling it...returned it.

Quick Take: great perfume great price
This perfume is so awesome-very clean and fresh. It reminds me of standing on a cliff overlooking the rock strewn ocean with the cold breeze blowing sea salted air with just a touch of brisk flowers! For me it lasts all day-I always spray my perfume under my shirt-usually in the back so I don't overwhelm myself and I can still smell this when I remove my shirt! Both my kids said mom u smell good. I switched to TokyoMilk for the natural aspect and couldn't be happier with this brand. The lip balm is amazing and natural.

a bit indescribable, this one. but lovely nonthless. i'd recommend this if you're uninterested in the fumey, floral, obviously feminine perfumes that all smell the same after a while.
it's unique, but familiar. clean and unclean all at once. a very intriguing and pleasing mix.

Sharp in a good way
-12.05.12
Quick Take: good value, interesting, not-too-feminine
I got a sample of TokyoMilk Dark Tainted Love, and liked it, but increasingly felt like it was a bit sweeter than I wanted. I decided to take a risk and order this without trying it, and I'm really pleased that I did - the vanilla offers a very slight sweetness, but just enough to slightly tone down the sharper notes. I tend to go for something that isn't too stereotypically feminine, but still sexy. I wanted this in particular as a fall/winter fragrance, but I think this would also work for me as a summer evening option. I'm also very pleased with the price - my other favorite is Tom Ford Black Orchid, which I still love, but it's a pretty hefty price tag for everyday use.

Love TokyoMilk Dark
-11.14.12
Quick Take: travel-friendly, good value
After reading reviews on this product, It seems this is a fragrance you either love or hate. I love it! TokyoMilk Dark is my new obsession. Arsenic No 17 is a complex, original fragrance which lasts all day. I love the dark, exotic aura of this product. If you like sweet, happy scents this is NOT the fragrance for you but, if you prefer to be different and can appreciate the complexity of the product, buy it. The packaging is perfection and reminds me of an old classic apothecary. I will definitely be trying other fragrances in the collection of TokyoMilk Dark in the future!!!

Oh, how I wanted to love you...
-11.05.12
Quick Take: disappointing
I bought this perfume online (because it's not available in the stores near me) based on the description and other people's reviews. I wanted to love it. I had such high hopes for it. And at first, it was promising. The initial scent was different but in a good way. Then, the dry down. Oh, no. Suddenly, I smelled like an old lady stored in mothballs. Well, I thought, maybe it's mixing with my lotion and that's the problem. So, I tried it again the next day. Nope. Still bad. Plus, it started to give me a headache. I am a bit heartbroken because the bottle is beautiful and the initial fragrance is promising. But, that doesn't last long enough and I can't spend the day smelling awful.

one-note on me
-10.24.12
Sprayed on paper, I love it. The fennel emerges with the vanilla just a touch but enough with the absinthe note to smell dark, tangy, a little spooky. Still loved it right when I put it on my skin. After a 1/2 hour or so, though, the fun, sharp, funky notes like the fennel disappeared, and I was left with just a kind of musky-vanilla-y thing. It smelled a little bit like Pureology Nanoworks hair products. It's the kind of scent a lot of people like, and doesn't smell "perfume-y" but compared to the interesting opening, it was just boring.
To be fair, I'm unreasonably picky about scent, and I like really weird smells as a rule, so I think the fade-out to something more universally palatable would be a plus for many people. It has kind of a soft vanilla-spice thing going, but I was looking for SPICE-fennel-teensy-vanilla, in that order.
Thanks, Sephora return policy, for letting me try things out!!

In LOVE
-09.27.12
Quick Take: good value, warm, mysterious, beautiful
It's so interesting how different people pick up on different scents, especially with these fun new "darker" fragrances from TokyoMilk! I went with my gut instinct on purchasing this scent. I didn't get to try it out along with any of the other scents in this collection and I definitely think I made the right choice. I was more so intrigued with the cut greens, fennel, and cardamom in this scent and was wary about the vanilla. I'm not a fan of vanilla. Now that I am actually smelling and wearing the scent (it arrived yesterday), I'm glad the vanilla is in it! It's the scent I notice the most, even from the get go (versus a lot of the other reviewers who have been caught up on the fennel scent). It's not super vanilla-y, but there is just enough in there to tame the wildness and exoticism of the other scents. It's warm, cozy, mysterious and simply beautiful. I especially love how it is different than any of the other typical fragrances out there... it's something a little more earthy and natural, and it is offered at a great price.

Stronger than expected.
-09.12.12
Quick Take: travel-friendly, strong, long-lasting
I initially bought this scent because I was intrigued by the notes. Vanilla and Sea Salt? That sounds like an amazing treat. I had such a success when I purchased Tainted Love blindly so I thought why not.
Right out of the box, I spritzed it on my wrist and was taken aback. The Fennel scent is STRONG, it hit me first thing. It smelled almost musty for the first couple of seconds before it toned itself down and you smell the spicy and salty vanilla i expected. But wow that fennel is strong, and not really in the good way.
I don't hate this scent, once it tones down I like it a lot. But that fennel I could do without, its way to strong to be in women's perfume. The plus side is the creamy scent of this perfume stays on your clothes until you wash them. If you can get past the fennel, I say go for it
