The color process opens the cuticle to deposit color into the hair shaft. If the cuticle is not sealed properly, water can enter and wash away new color as soon as the first shampoo (which is when the most color washout happens).

Quick Take: hydrating, good for daily use
The Color Minded shampoo and conditioner have definitely held my color in longer. I wash my twice a day and end up having to have it colored every 3-4 weeks. I have noticed with these products I can go for 5-6 weeks before having to go to the salon to have it colored!

Quick Take: good for daily use
I'm a new convert to B+B products after using a competing brand for a decade. This has performed well, and my hair is healthy, shiny- and my red color is staying put (a true wonder). One star off for the price, especially compared with other high-end color conserving products.

I usually use the Gentle kind but thought I would give this a try. The sulfate-free formula is great. My hair actually feels so much better!

Quick Take: fabulous
Bumble and Bumble scores again with this lush and fabulous smelling shampoo. I have lots of fine hair and this product works great. Used with the conditioner, it's worth every penny, leaves my hair very manageable, and my color isn't compromised. Love it!

Quick Take: drying, does not protect color
I was very surprised to discover how poor this product was for me. It actually stripped the color out of my hair on the first wash after just dying it. It also dried my hair out quite a bit and my hair is normally very healthy. My hair felt similar to straw after using this product with some pieces sticking together even after it was dry. I even used this with the conditioner and it did not help.

So far I really like the shampoo. It doesn't seem to strip the red out of my hair like other sulfate-free shampoos do. I wish I got a little more volume with it, but it doesn't weigh my hair down and it really helps my frizzy hair.

I LOVE this shampoo and conditioner. I color my hair and it is naturally straight and somewhat fine. I have gravitated toward shampoos which are probably more harsh (but color proof) and clarifying, because I was afraid that they would weigh down my hair. I did not use conditioner for the same reason. I now use this shampoo and the conditioner and I am a new woman! The two products have the opposite effect of weighing down my hair, to the extent that my hair feels clean for so long, I can now skip washing my hair every day, something I have not done since I was about 14 years old. I use my fair share of other styling products, but my hair is now soft and has much shine.

I bought the 3 piece set a couple months ago and I finally got to try this shampoo. I had tried to purchase this on so many occasions at the local salon and always fail because its always sold out. I ended up really liking this shampoo. You should only use this if you have dry color treated hair because if you don't it might be too rich or thick. I have thick hair so this shampoo was a win-win. Im thinking about purchasing the full size once my other shampoo supplies are gone.

Quick Take: drying, not color-protective
When I heard Bumble and Bumble was coming out with a color line for shampoo and conditioner, I was really excited. I have been a huge fan of their products since being introduced to them by my stylist years ago. Unfortunately, this particular product falls flat.
First and foremost, a color shampoo should protect color, but I didn't feel like this shampoo did as good of a job of protecting my color as the Wella shampoo I had been using. Also, like a lot of sulfate free shampoos, it left my hair feeling like a rat's nest in the shower until I was able to condition it. That's not a good feeling and it makes it harder to fully rinse the shampoo.

I was introduced to this product from my hairdresser. Initially I didn't think it did anything and gave all of the credit of my great lasting red color to my hairdresser. Although she is extremely talented and does wonders with my hair, I quickly found out just how essential Bumble and Bumble is to keeping that radient red look for months. Once I ran out of the first bottle I didn't bother to repurchas and watched my lovely color fade into a drabby washed out rusty red which looked very dry. I used John Frieda red color conditioner instead and man, was I dissapointed! One bottle of B&B lasts me over two months. You only need a little bit, as it goes a long way. I have very long hair that tends to get dry quite easily. This shapoo not only keeps the color looking fabulous for two months, but it also hydrates hair and helps keep it strong. I love this stuff. I buy it every time I get my hair done (about every 8-10 weeks).

Great for Color, Even Better with Argan Oil

So I bought the travel size set to try this shampoo, conditioner, and styling balm. I noticed a lot of other reviewers said that it's a bit drying, and I can agree with that, though I didn't think it was excessively so. I actually really love this shampoo, because it does hold your color, and I have slightly oily hair which makes me have to wash my hair everyday. So, if you have dry hair, probably not for you. If you have normal to oily hair, you'll probably really like this. I also mix a couple drops of Argan oil into the BB UV Styling cream before blow drying, which actually makes this shampoo and conditioner set AMAZING. Try it!

My hair dresser recommended this product to me and I now use it often. I rotate between this shampoo/conditioner combo and the bumble and bumble Mending shampoo/conditioner combo.
This shampoo lathers nicely. Smells great. My hair feels light and clean after I use it.
