Quick Take: travel-friendly, unique, fresh
This is a very unique fragrance and completely unlike anything I've owned or smelled before; it's chilly, bold, and organic. "Brisk" is a good descriptor for it, but on me, it smells less marine, and more like wet forest. There's really no sweetness to it at all, and the cypress is very pronounced.
If I had been able to find this perfume in stores before I bought it online, I may not have purchased it. It's strong, and does trend a little cleaning-product-y at first (though not in a chemical way), but that gives way to piney cypress (VERY clean). Overall, it's nice and fresh: great for someone who wants a fragrance that's more natural and less perfumey.
As a side-note, for what it's worth, I haven't yet had any of the problems with a leaky bottle that some of the other reviewers mentioned.

leaky packaging

I bought this for a gift, so this review does not have to do with the actual scent/lasting power of the fragrance, which I can not speak to. When I opened the shipment the glass test tube that the rollerball was packaged in was wet inside and there was a small amount of the perfume in the bottom of the test tube that had leaked out of the vial. I still gave it to my friend and when she uncorked the packaging and tried to take the lid off the vial, the actual rollerball part of the vial came off with the lid and some more perfume spilled out. Yes, the marketing is cool, but the actual vial was so cheaply made I think half the product was lost during shipping and opening. Honestly, I have ordered rollerballs half the price (Pacifica comes to mind) with no such leaking or shoddy packaging problems. For that reason I would not buy another rollerball from Tokyomilk Dark. As a side note, I also purchased a full size spray perfume in another Tokyomilk Dark scent, and that arrived with no problems whatsoever.

Quick Take: good value, travel-friendly, beautiful packaging, long-lasting
Really like this one, it does smell strong at first but is great as it mellows. When softened it retains a freshness with a back note of salt water on me. I've had it on for 9 hours at this point it still smells lovely. This is not sweet, those looking for something different will be pleased.

This is one of the most interesting fragrances...it's very strong when I put it on, but it settles so beautifully and lasts all day. I always get comments on it's unique-ness.

Another review mentioned that this perfume smells like bathroom cleaner, and I have to admit that when I first apply it, it's a bit Scrubbing Bubbles-y, BUT after it's had a minute to settle it smells absolutely gorgeous-- this is just one of those scents that smells much better on a person than it does in the bottle. It really does remind me of walking on the beach in midwinter-- the smell is fresh and clean, but also mysterious and ethereal. If you want a delicate, feminine fragrance that isn't totally flowery and expected, this is a good choice. It is reasonably long-lasting too. I love it so much that I am giving it 5 stars despite how weird it smells in the bottle, and despite the bottle itself for that matter (the packaging is gorgeous but kind of shoddily made and leaky)-- I wish it were available in a larger size, because I can already tell this is going to become my everyday fragrance!

Quick Take: unique
Really love it. Reminds me of standing on the black sand beaches in the Northwest. Zum's Sea Salt is my favorite soap, so if you like that, you'll like this. It's really unique, which is great because I don't like 90% of traditional perfume. The stuff pours out though, so I only put it on with the ball up, not down. Didn't do that the first time and it was a bad deal. A small amount is definitely the way to go with this scent.
I wish they had a bottle, there isn't a lot for the price. But I like it so much I'll buy it again anyway.

I got to admit, I ordered it because of the beautiful packaging without ever smelling it beforehand. And I'm so glad I did!
It smells like a memory of the ocean in winter - salt and seaweed and moisture. Fresh and mysterious and clean.
I'm not a perfume person and I wanted something that smells good but not like a perfume, this was totally it!

The packaging is adorable (it comes in a corked glass test tube). This doesn't smell bad - it just brings to mind associations of bathroom disinfectants with its clean watery smell, which wasn't something I wanted to wear. I wish these were available to sniff in stores rather than having to blind-buy online.

I was very excited to get this and wanted to like it very much, but the smell was so bad I had to wash it off immediately. Its sort of like bathroom cleaner. Sort of a cedar-citrus astringency. Reminds me more of a toilet than a beach, lol. The packaging was fabulous though, if youre trying to decide between this and another tokyomilk scent like I was, go with a different one.

I absolutely love how this smells. It's different from the other scents in my collection and it really stands out. It definitely reminds me of the ocean - dark and sensual but clear somehow. I haven't had it on for very long, so I can't speak to how long it lasts, but it certainly isn't overpowering. It's just strong enough to be noticeable but doesn't make you smell like you threw on a bucket of perfume. I also love the packaging - it comes in an adorable vial with a cork!

I just received this product today. I decided to be bold and select a fragrance online without smelling it first and I think I made a pretty decent choice. Just like the other reviewer, the scent reminds me of the beach, in a good way, or how I wish the ocean really smelled. The packaging is clever and gorgeous, of course. My only issue is that something isn't right with the roller ball, it's too loose so the scent comes pouring out and as strong as this fragrance is, too much comes out so it becomes overkill once it's on me. I don't know if this issue is just a freak thing or if other people have experienced it too? Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this scent to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary, and for someone who is looking for a more natural scent. It's cool, quirky and clean smelling.

This fragrance is my new favorite.. It is light and strongly reminiscent of the ocean- not coconut like suntan lotion but it really captures the smell of salt and surf. I just wish it came in a bigger size.
