Quick Take: lengthening, durable
I recently had to switch all my makeup because of sensitive skin reactions, and I was looking for something paraben and sulfate free. And surprisingly this was it! I love the formulation, although the brush sometimes deposits a bit more than I would like (I already have long lashes, but they are very thin). And when they say water-proof, they mean it - it takes quite a bit of scrubbing to remove it at the end of the day, even with a makeup remover. Also, since I have blue eyes and blonde hair, I typically go for brown mascaras so I don't look too severe. Even though this is listed as burnt brown, it's more like other brands black-brown or almost black in my opinion.

Usually waterproof mascaras make my lashes so brittle they fall off and mascara formulas sometimes irritate my eyes. Not this! Great length and curl. Stays put all day. And waterproof-tested (two sobbing fits and NO smudge!). Currently my new favorite mascara!!

Love this mascara

I've never written a review and said I love a product. I've liked and liked very much, but I absolutely love this new mascara. My lashes are long and straight. They stay curled and gorgeous for hours. On the pricier side, but worth the extra few dollars. Definitely gets the job done.

It's the best mascara I ever owned and I have about 10 mascaras. Good curls, long lasting, no fall outs, lengthening, medium volume. No clumping and very natural.

Fab stuff, waterproof to the max and great texture

Love this stuff! Was looking for a nice, good, brown mascara that is waterproof but not goopy. I decided to splurge on this one and I'm so glad I did! It goes on beautifully, no clumps, great color, super-waterproof (I cried wearing it and it didn't move!). Love it!

Great But Needs Improvement

Quick Take: volumizing, defining, lengthening, deep dark shiny black, superior hold on the curl
Best waterproof formula. Holds curl like no other. Glossy, deep black like no other. HOWEVER, I'm giving four star because:
1) YSL mascaras have a heavy perfume for no reason
2) There is a rubber washer at the opening of mascara tubes that controls the amount of product that comes out on the wand. For this particular mascara, that washer keeps disconnecting from the tube and attaching to the wand! I end up with a massive amount of mascara or I have to grab the washer and push it back down (both resulting in a big mess). What a pain. What a pity. This mascara really is otherwise superior.

Really didn't like at all and I am very easy to please. My lashes stuck together so quickly when applied that I couldn't even brush over a second time. I have natural long lashes and it was so difficult to deal with they ended up looking shorter and clumpy. Would not recommend

Quick Take: defining, lengthening
I have to admit, this is my favorite mascara so far.
One thing to note is that it's scented so if you have sensitive eyes, allergies to perfumes, etc., this is not the mascara for you.
I like that I can put on a few coats (rather than just one) and it doesn't get clumpy. My eyelashes look long and separated (instead of one big hot mess) but I wouldn't say it's the same effect as falsies. Just a nice, natural, long look.
For those who have issues with it drying out or getting goopy, just add a few (3 max) drops of contact solution into the mix and shake it up. Mascara dries out so easily from opening and using the product but there's still so much in your tube! Just add the solution, shake it up a bit, and it will last you another few weeks.

I've tried just about every single mascara on the market but this one actually stays on all day AND night long! With any other mascara I run into the problem of the mascara leaving black marks under my eyes because it comes off throughout the day.... With this mascara you can go to work and go out at night without even re-applying or worrying about any black residue being under your eye. Hands down the best mascara!!

I really loved this mascara for the first month. I received numerous compliments on my eyelashes because it did wonders for them and it truly is waterproof! AMAZING! Then here comes the disaster part...I grabbed this mascara this morning and then after I opened it, it was all goop! There was no way to clean the wand or the brush without the formula getting all over my hands. As I tried to scrape the excess on the tube and tried to wiggle the wand back and forth on my lashes, it was still clumping on my lashes and it was so heavy! I guess I am still on the hunt for an amazing mascara that does it all...

I have tried many types of waterproof mascara and all have let me down except for this one. I live in Florida and am on the water and out in the sun often. This mascara really stays on through the humidity and does not flake or get into my contacts.

I loved this mascara in the sample. It was the best I've ever used so I bought the full size and returned it immediately because the brush head was so bad it didn't apply it the same way. It was clumpy and spidery. Get the sample if you can, you will love it. I wish they would change the brush on the full size.

I have sparse and straight lashes and this does what it says it'll do. It actually gives me a ton of volume, lengthens, and curls for me! It was so great that my friends tried it and went to get this for themselves! The only issue is that it is very difficult to take off. It'll take a while but with a really good eye makeup remover (oil based) it'll come off quick.

The pros for this mascara are the inky black color, great lengthening AND volumizing effect with just one coat, and long wear. The cons - it is clumpy and goopy, and almost impossible to remove even with waterproof eye makeup remover. It has to be combed out while wet or it dries into one stiff clunp. It took a week of use before the formula dried up enough not to smear everywhere, and now that I've had it five weeks it's so dried out that ti's one big ugly spidery clump. That four weeks of okayness should not cost $30. I can do better with a drugstore mascara at a fourth of the price. I don't love the pretty gold tube quite that much.

Favorite mascara ever!

My hunt for the perfect mascara is finally over! One coat makes my (freakishly blond) lashes look naturally defined and dark, but three coats makes them look incredible! Lasts through yoga, gym, rubbing my eyes... Everything but naps. And it's pretty easy up get off as long as you get it off that night. Passing out after a night out will make a difficult-to-clean mess under your eyes (not that I'd ever do that...)

let me start out by mentioning that i am extremely fortunate to have long, naturally curled lashes and use mascara to enhance them and maximize this one plus i am really lucky to have. (i do not take this for granted.) i've never really had a huge complaint about mascara, as it's hard to mess up my lashes. until now, that is.
pro: definitely waterproof (enough to earn the two stars)
cons: creates spider lashes (very clumped together, no definition), difficult to apply due to the brush, have to use too much which only enhances the spider eyes phenomenon.
i was surprised how badly this mascara worked on my lashes. i wonder if the brush was comb-like if it would make this mascara better. diorshow iconic is the best route for me: gives me definition, length, and volume.
