I had been hunting for a new lip brush after I purchased a retractable lip brush at another store (*cough* think red bulls-eye *cough*) for $8 and unfortunately, the quality matched the cheap price. Within a few days the bristles had become damaged. I decided that my best bet would to look at Sephora, something that I should have done to begin with. I definitely did not want another retractable brush and had no issue spending more money to get a better quality brush. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the girls that works at my local Sephora suggested this brush! It was only $12, plus this was during Chic Week so I received an extra discount on it.
I LOVE this brush! It's longer than a typical lip brush, which I personally thinks gives you more control when applying a lip color. The bristles are also tight and after a few weeks of solid use, I have yet to have a problem with the bristles becoming damaged.
I noticed some customers were having that problem with this brush based on the other reviews. From my experience with the first brush I purchased, the cap that came with the brush worsened the damaged bristles by snagging them and pushing them back. The cap with THIS brush prevents that by opening on the side with two small latches, instead of sliding onto the brush. I honestly thought that was genius on Sephora's part as a cap is critical for lip brushes as it prevents bacteria from getting in the bristles (bacteria on the lips = gross), but at the same time you don't want to damage the bristles. However, I personally didn't notice this at first and thought it worked like a normal cap. So, that could be a possibility if you're having trouble with the cap or the bristles! :-)
All in all I am so pleased with this lip brush!

I actually like this brush. I never have good look with lip brushes because the bristles eventually flare out. But since the cap for this comes to it from the side and not from the top, the bristles stays nice and straight.
I wouldn't really call it travel size, because it is so long. But it happens to barely fit in my makeup bag, so I take it every where with me.
I am going to get me another one for strictly lip gloss. And keep my current one for lipstick.

Quick Take: pro lip brush #81
This lip brush was not of good quality. The brush fibers stuck out all around the base of the brush & never flattened down. The cap pushes the brush fiber backwards only making the situation worse. Also, the whole brush length is very long to fit in a makeup bag. I ended up returning it.

Perfect Vanity Lip Brush!!!

Gets the job done and I'm happy with it!!! I use a retractable brush for my purse. This brush is really meant for your vanity, not day to day purse travel. I have no issues with the cap. If you are traveling I assume you are taking other brushes as well. The cap will stay in place just fine in a brush roll keeping any residual lip color from contaminating other brushes. For everyday purse carry get a retractable lip brush.

I really needed a lip brush for my new Bite red lipstick, so having had luck with Sephora brushes before I ordered this one. Meh. The cap is ridiculous (I threw it out) and hard to screw on (never was bested by a cap before, so hat's off, Sephora). The brush itself is okay -- it smoothly applies the lip color -- but the bristles at the edge of a brush look like they just woke up from a hard night of partying. They stick out all over the place. For $12, this will be fine, but I'm glad I didn't spend a penny more.

IF you are the type of person who doesn't have all day to screw around with your lipstick, throw away the cap. The cap is supposed to be opened by a clasp on the side, and does not work the way a normal cap does. I put the cap onto the brush the apparent 'wrong way' and it completely ruined the bristles and is unfixable. It should come with a warning.

I needed a lip brush to precisely outline my lips for a fuller effect and I wanted to smooth out my lipstick. Most of the ladies at sephora recommended this brush over any brand at the store. I'd have to say, sephora professional brushes are a good line. I haven't any problems with the ones I've got. The bristles are stiff enough for how you want to apply any product to your lips. I love it! I just wish it came in a to go size to bring with me in my makeup bag.

Quick Take: good for lips not eyes obviously!
I wanted a brush to smudge eye shadows and some one who didn't know anything recommended this. When I got home i realised it was for lips! I went back and explained and the ladies were shaking their heads cos heck someone doesn't know their products.

I don't wear lipstick often so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a lip brush. I had pretty low expectations for this product and I was still disappointed. The "small, firm fibers" are sticking out in every direction and even after washing and drying they won't lay flat.

This was my first new pro line brush. I was very attached to the old Sephora Pro line, so I was a bit skeptical about why they were changing it. The handle seems to be about the same shape and size, but the color is no longer silver. Towards the head of the brush there is a big number "81" frosted on. Not terrible, but I do sort of wish it wasn't there. The brush came with a little "hat," a reuseable cover which the old ones did not come with and I actually really like. I HATE retractable lip brushes, so I am a big fan of the hat. Keeps the brush in good shape. The bristles itself are soft and apply my lipstick perfectly!

The top of the brush gets frayed if you don't put the cap on it a certain way. Thought about returning it, but it was only 12 dollars. The brush itself is not bad, just wish the cap was better.

I love this brush! This was, to be honest, the first lip brush I had ever bought, and I am very happy with it. It is easy to use and, like another reviewer said, comes with a cap, which makes it great for travel. A great value. Would recommend!
