I liked the idea of 4 in 1 and I usually love the St. Tropez line of self-tanners. I think the smell was nice, no self tanner smell at all. It does moisturize very well, not sticky or taking forever to dry. I just don't think there is any "tan" part to the 4 in 1. I am light skinned but I am using this for over a month and the only color I see is a little orange tinge around my ankles. I cannot really attest to the firming or toning part either as I am also using the Soap and Glory firming lotion, which by the way, is awesome. Use your money to buy another St. Tropez self-tanner product. This one is way too pricey and does not deliver.

Maybe it's just me but the only difference I saw in this tanning lotion and others is the smell wasn't as strong. This tanning lotion still made parts of my skin look orange so if you are a very pale skinned person like myself I wouldn't recommend it. This stuff overall is not worth the money in my opinion.

Quick Take: gradual
This smells decent, but it takes a little while to build up and maintain... My complaint is given that, the price is a bit steep. If you are working on getting a tan all over using this product, it works and it looks nice, but it's an expensive way to go. Without the hefty price tag, I would give it 4 stars. It also kind of broke me out in the upper chest area, but I have crazy sensitive skin.

I only used this product once because the smell was so overwhelming I couldn't take it. I returned the item for a refund after one use so I can't comment on the tanning aspect. :(

The tanner smell is still there... so take note that it is not scentless. It does provide a great gradual tan, but if smell is an issue, avoid it.

I am not new to fake tanning and have tried almost everything! I fell in love with St. Tropez two years ago and have yet to find anything that measures up.
When I bought the lotion I was nervous that would it not be very moisturizing and have no colour.
I was completely wrong!
I love the subtle colour it gives and it was very moisturizing. Especially cause I'm using it in the winter and my skin is on the dry side. It's also super easy to use!
My boyfriend did notice the smell, but he wasn't bothered by it.... trust me, he's smelt some awful fake tanners.

I know the scent is on the stronger side of most body lotions but I LOVE the smell. It reminds me of a chakra-based perfume that I used to love a few years ago. It's not a rank smell, so don't be swayed by the people who didn't like it. Sephora lets you return so there's no reason not to give it a shot. It is a little firming (hard to say how effective that particular attribute is) and I LOVE the subtle, gradual color (noticeable after one application on my fair skin but not enough to see any streaking). Doesn't smell like self-tanner at ALL (in the bottle or after applying). It's my favorite moisturizer for arms and legs. If you're fair and could use a little help with firming, why wouldn't you use this? If you hate the perfume, take it back. Easy peasy. Hopefully it works for you too!

This is one of the most wonderful thick rich body creams I've ever used. Can't say it self-tanned as I use the St. Tropez self tanner (mousse) but it's richly decadent.

i liked the firming qualities. It really tightened up some of my loose skin. The tanning qualities were just not enough for me. It is suppose to be "gradual" but its more like nonexistent. I was a little tan prior to application so this product may be good for those who are lighter skinned. I wanted to love this product since I invested a good deal of money on it, but in the end it just disappointed me.

Ive always used st tropes because their tanning products don't have that funny smell that most self tanners do.
However with this product the odor is a bit strong.
As far as tanning though, it does go on evenly and no streaks.

Quick Take: definite improvements
I am on the site to purchase my second tube. My legs look the best they have looked in 2 years! Smooth, toned, and silky! I don't have major cellulite but I had begun to notice some unwanted texture and evidence that I was losing the toned and smooth youthful appearance. This lotion has made me feel sexy again! As for tanning, I am very fair although I typically can tan. I notice a slight golden tone but not really tanning. It does seem to enhance my existing tan and keeps the color longer. I do wish it gave me more tan but I would use it for the firming and toning alone. The smell isnt something I would wear alone but it is much better than any other self tanner I have used.

Good product, horrible smell

I've purchased many St. Tropez items as the product is great and they've managed to eliminate the self-tanner smell. However, this product smells terrible! I tried it twice before returning it, because the smell gave me a headache. It isn't the self-tanner smell, either. Otherwise, the product works great. This is the first time I've returned something to Sephora...

This is great because it truly is gradual and truly does not have that icky self-tanner smell. It is moisturizing which I think made a big difference when applying and reapplying and made it look natural. I didn't notice it to be particularly firming though.

I love the gradual tan this lotion gives without any streaks or being orange. I also noticed my skin was toned & firmer after using it just 2 times. Even though this lotion doesn't smell as strong as most self tanners, it still has a slight smell that I wasn't too happy about, but overall this is definitely worth the money!
