Quick Take: good value
Everyone always stops me to ask what I'm wearing, "Hermes". Its smell lasts all day, and the Parfum has a little more of a musky tone than the Eau de Toilette. I absolutely recommend this to ALL!

Quick Take: sexy clean be achy
Absolutely love this perfume. I have the eau Claire as well and it's equally as beautiful. I can't get enough of either of them. Reminds me of summertime.... Bright sunny days at the beach. Definitely an "ocean" scent. Totally worth the pricey cost.

Quick Take: good value, travel-friendly, a bit expensive
I've been looking for this fragrance for about 10 yrs. I first saw it in a Sephora catalogue and smelled it on an insert that was inside. This perfume smells like oranges, spice, and woods, and it makes me feel very sexy. The only improvement I would make is for it to last longer, and be a little bit stronger. Maybe I should buy the body cream also? Like I said, I am so grateful to finally find this perfume.

This is a review for 3.3 oz Eau des Merveilles Eau de Toilette Spray. Please note that the EDP and the EDT smell COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
I wear this as my signature scent. This is also perfect for the workplace. It is very subtle yet chic and sophisticated. It wears the entire day on me yet it isn't overpowering even in the summer.

I love the Elixer des Merveilles, it is a great signature classy and elegant scent. The citrus and amber really shine through and it is long lasting. I never go without compliments with this. If you like elegant and classy refined frangrance without smelling like an old lady this is awesome!!!

I was pleased to see Eau des Merveiles back in the Sephora stores again! This scent is light & lasting. I always get complements on how I smell. The woody & amber along w/ a light citrus scent is intoxicating. I am able to wear it year round.

This website lists the three different fragrances, so make sure you correctly buy the one you want: Eau des Merveilles, Elixir des Merveilles, or Eau Claire des Merveilles. I have a sample of the Eau des Merveilles, so I will be reviewing that one.
Eau des Merveilles is one of the most charming, unique fragrances I have ever worn and smelled. I love how this perfume reverses the traditional pyramid of notes; it opens with typical base notes so that the woods and ambergris are present from the beginning. When I first smelled the nozzle of the sample bottle without actually spraying any perfume on, the first words that came to mind were “adventurous” and “spicy” and “exciting.”
On the first spray, I smell a lot of pepper mixed with earthy woods, salty ambergris, and a hint of lemon. True ambergris is extremely expensive, so I assume it’s artificially constructed. It opens up way too peppery for my liking, but there is just something very charming about this. It could be that I’m reminded of the sea and shores from the scent of ambergris. The pepper stays very strong, but the woods and ambergris do help to balance out the scent and prevent it from being only spice.
When the pepper fades after a few hours of wear and the citruses truly begin to emerge on my skin, I smell the sexiest scent I have ever worn. The orange and lemon citruses mixed with the smell of salt and wood are so seductive because it smells very adventurous, free, and just completely sexy! The only way to describe this smell in material images is to say that I picture myself on the shores, ready for a voyage out to the sea. And I’m not talking about a commercial beach resort full of loud tourists; I’m thinking about the Romantic illustrations of legendary ships at port. Some people have complained that they smell too much orange from beginning to end, but the orange doesn’t come out on my skin very much and I actually wish there were more citrus notes because the pepper is just too much on me.
I will say that this doesn’t smell exactly like the ocean, but all the different scents battling against each other (spicy, salty, woody, citrusy) are working marvelously to make you think of the salty sea, grainy seashore, and mossy woods. It’s about creating associations in order to make the scent of ambergris stand out. After all, true ambergris is elusive and both sweet and woody. It also best stands out when delicately mixed with other scents. And in case you’re worried about getting overloaded with smells, Eau Des Merveilles is crafted with amazing balance.
I think this is a fragrance that can be worn year-round. The pepper and cedar would do well in winter, and the ambergris and orange would smell beachy for the summer after cooling off from the ocean or pool. It’s neutral enough for the transitional seasons, too. If anything though, I might be concerned about being too overwhelmed with pepper in the summer. I personally wouldn’t wear this daily just because I would miss smelling floral and feminine notes that are lacking in this scent. I don’t consider Hermes EDM really refreshing; it smells quite salty and would be worn on only certain occasions.
I don’t know if this is advertised as unisex, but I strongly believe it can be worn by both women and men. Although ambergris is historically associated with feminine scent, this perfume lacks the florals that are considered feminine today. Also, it has citrus, woods, and peppers that would be very appropriate for men. In fact, my boyfriend even said that he’s nearly positive his male coworker wears this fragrance. He even said that the first thing that came to mind when he caught a whiff of this scent was a male voice actor for the show The Boondocks…
As for longevity and sillage, Eau des Merveilles is great. One spray on my wrist was enough to get my boyfriend to notice this perfume, and he rarely ever takes notice or comments. And it lasted for several hours. This is an expensive fragrance, so I don’t know when I will make the commitment of buying a bottle, especially since my boyfriend is reminded of his male coworker and a male actor when smelling it. Maybe I’ll buy it for him (and I'll just steal it every now and then) since he expressed interest in trying it.
But don’t let that deter you, ladies! It truly is a unique fragrance and well executed. I only wish that the peppers weren’t so strong on my skin, but like I said, the ambergris and orange is an unbelievably sexy combination. Test it first before buying because it’s not for everyone!

When i smell it, it was really good but the concentration doesn't last to much and i have to apply more than once a day which is not very good for the price that i pay for it.

Does not smell like the ocean

I read the description "memory of the oceans" and I thought this must be something that I have to like since I have been wanting something that had a hint of the sea. I blindly bought this online without smelling it and I was disappointed. It smells manly to me and it very smillar to a l'occitane fragrance that my husbands has. I don't think it has any hint of an ocean/sea fragrane but, it mostly woodsy smelling. I really tried to like this perfume but, I am planning on returning it.

After one of our New York executives came to Cleveland for a visit, I was walking with her, and noticed this perfume she was wearing. I literally wanted to follow her around all day just so I could smell it! Not very often do I find a fragrance that captivates me like this did, and immediately after work I placed the order online. This is now my signature fragrance, especially in the winter.

thank you so much for bringing this fragrance back to your online store. I could only find it in Hermes stores and your flagship store in Las Vegas. I have been wearing since I went to Paris many moons ago. If you want a fragrance no other woman will have and you want to smell like a million dollars, this is the scent for you. I discovered Eau des Merveilles in Paris, and instantly became my signature scent. I absolutely love it.. Light and citrus in the summer, and warm, sexy and woodsy for the colder months. Eau des Merveilles is the only fragrance I actually finish and need to get more of. I ran out for a while, and when I finally put it back on, something about its burst of happiness filled my spirits. It definitely makes you dream of marvelous things, this Eau de Merveilles :)

On my skin, this fragrance is a beautiful fresh citurs scent. This is a year round scent but I feel is more suited to warmer temperatures or a very casual winter day. I love this scent and feel privilaged to wear it. It is a very refined fragrance.

I first found this perfume at a Sephora in Atlanta. After it was all gone, I was not able to find it at any of the local Sephora stores or online until just recently when the local store began carrying it. I was excited to see it on the shelf and used my 20% coupon to purchase it. It is one of the more expensive perfumes, but I love the smell and how it wears over the day. When I first bought it, I took it with me when my husband and I went to Hawaii, and now when I smell it, it brings back memories of that trip. It's a very sexy smelling perfume. It really is, as they describe, the perfume of enchantment.
