Givenchy Fluid Foundation Airy-Light Mat Radiance SPF 20 - PA++

What it is: A radiant matte liquid foundation. What it does: Eclat Matissime is a fluid foundation featuring a new radiant matte finish that reveals the fine texture and glow of the skin. The gentle formula, which features SPF 20 PA ++ protection, respects the delicate balance of the complexion for a natural yet long-lasting result. What else you need to know:Some matifying foundations absorb sebum too intensely. The skin is artificially dried making the skin produce more sebum through a boomerang effect. Eclat Matissime is formulated with silica beads structured to optimize the absorption of oil and moisture while allowing the skin to breathe for improved comfort. Sephora is the exclusive beauty retailer for this product.

Heavenly

Quick Take: long wearing, lovely
LOVE this product! Two or three pumps gives the right amount of coverage to even out complexion and give natural glow to skin tone. I went into Sephora and got a free makeover and this foundation is what the makeup artist used on me.

I was kind of disappointed with this foundation...maybe my expectations were to high but, for the price I think they should have been that high. The foundation I felt didn't even out my skin like I was expecting. It was a nice matte finish which I like, but it was just ok. Really can't say much about it.

I found nothing matte about this foundation. The Givenchy reps persuaded me to try this and buy it claiming it was the best foundation for a matte look. This foundation was definitely airy-light. It was so light weight I found it did not cover at all. Granted I felt I did not have any makeup on but it also didn't hide my imperfections. It no way was matte either. I was shiny and oily faster than I was with my previous foundation. I went back a few data later to return it and spoke with a regular sephora rep who recommended a matte primer not so much of a matte foundation which don't really exist.

Not enough coverage
-04.22.13
I have been on a search for the perfect foundation and hoped I had found it in Givenchy's. I had high expectations and I really did want to like this. I have hyper-pigmentation on my cheeks and I hate the way it looks. I try to look for a foundation that has full enough coverage without looking fake and cake-y. When I wore this, even with two layers I couldn't get it to cover my blemishes. It never looked cake-y, it just didn't work for me. It isn't a bad foundation and I can see why others love it. However, if you are looking for a somewhat full coverage like I was, this may not be for you. *sigh* Back to my search.

Will Never Change
-04.05.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing, oil-free, sheer
I loved my first bottle of Givenchy Photo Perfexion, but I felt like it was not very long lasting and frankly too moisturizing for my oily skin. When I was almost done with the bottle, I didn't feel like using it for the S/S season. So I got a bunch of samples - among them were Chanel, Clinique -- and all of them 1) broke my skin out terribly, 2) gave me acnes and 3) felt extremely heavy. After frustrating trials, I decided to stick with Photo Perfexion. Then I found out about eclat Mattissime. I read online reviews and went to Sephora. A sales associate told me that it is relatively new product, and is for oily skin. I've used it for three days... and I believe I found my dream foundation.
Pros
1) Despite the perfume (I like the scent), it does not irritate the skin at all. My skin actually looks smoother and more radiant when I use this.
2) It has a better consistency than Photo Perfexion. It covers my pores smoothly - while Photo Perfexion had a tendency to settle into my pores. It does dry quickly so you gotta work on putting it on fast.
3) This is not a cakey or chalky matte. My face would give a glow and matte kind of sheer shine (hard to describe). I think it is the work of all the microbeads.
4) Oil control on this is phenomenal. Since I am a really greasy (not even oily, greasy!) person, oil still kinda shows. But the makeup stays. Oil is not concentrated on my t-zone, but is more spread out.... You might laugh that I say the shine gets spread out, but it is far better than having spotty shiny spots right on your forehead or around nose.
5) I don't like feeling makeup on my face. It was another reason why I loved Photo Perfexion... Both Givench products are so light on your skin - Eclat Matissime is more matte and consistent.
6) Stays all day. Just make sure you put on two layers. I haven't used it with primer, but I am sure it will work well.
Cons
1) Just like everyone else... What's wrong with the packaging?! Why can't I control the amount of disposal? Also, foundation gets everywhere around the lid.
2) I need two layers of this foundation to achieve desired effect since the formula is pretty thin. I think I will use this up pretty fast...
It's a pretty pricey foundation so I don't like having to use two pumps every time. This product still gets a 5... because, heck, I would pay anything to make myself this great every day. Buying this is worth trading for a couple dinner outs or extra clothing. Also, if you have a semi-decent skin like me that has some redness/spots, I am telling you... you don't need to cover up all of your imperfections completely. You just need to cover enough for them to not stand out.

Excellent Foundation!
-03.29.13
Quick Take: great consistency
This foundation is one of the best I've used. It has a very light consistency that is almost invisible when applied. It also has a mild, luxurious scent that feels very nice. The packaging pumps out a minimal amount of product, which I like, so as not to waste too much.

i have tried so many different kinds of foundation and i have finally found my favourite one! its light and airy doesn't feel like foundation and looks like your natural skin. Very build-able for a full coverage, but i love it for an everyday foundation.

Givenchy Airy-Light Mat Rad
-03.10.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing, natural, sweat-proof, smells amazing
This is most definitely light but buildable coverage. It smells amazing and feels good on the skin but is sheer to light coverage and doesn't cover imperfections all that well. However it is long-wearing and sweat proof. It lasted me though a night of non-stop dancing without coming off one bit. It is also very natural looking and doesn't look like you're even wearing foundation, which is awesome. The down side is that it doesn't control oil through its supposed boomerang effect like it says and I was oily within 4 hours.

perfect
-02.28.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing
I have really oily t-zone and quite a bit of hyperpigmentation left behind by acne. This is just wonderful and isn't entirely matt which I ADORE!!!My ultimate holy grail is lingerie de peau but this is more long lasting. The pump is really hard to control you either get one pump or two, you can't really get 1 and 1/2...this feels light but definitely covers well and looks wonderful even under harsh lighting!

-02.16.13
Quick Take: perfect
I've been trying new foundations every time I run out. I have not repurchased any foundation ever before. I do plan on repurchasing this one. Very lightweight. Color matched perfectly. It is the most mattifying foundation I've used thus far. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is the price point. But you do get what you pay for. Love it.

Doesn't Last
-02.05.13
Quick Take: sheer coverage
I tried this product in two different environments and it did the same thing, so I know the formulation isn't what I wanted. I live in Boise, which is a pretty dry climate at altitude, and I also tried it while in San Antonio at 100% humidity. Both times it gave my skin an awkward texture and looked pasty, and lasted for about 2 hours before my oily skin began to come through.
The coverage is definitely NOT build-able, and it looks cakey the more you put on. It also is very very very light coverage that covers almost no imperfections. My minor breakouts and enormous pores were obvious while the makeup was on my face. I also like makeup to hide redness, especially because I blush easily, and this was useless in doing so.
It does provide a light-diffusing quality to the face, which is nice. But that benefit does not outweigh the negatives. I also did not like the texture of the makeup; it was matte, but still trying to be glowy, and it actually became an awkward and unflattering in-between of oily-matte and matte. Not attractive.
I will stick with the Photo Perfexion natural-finish foundation that hides everything beautifully.

just ok
-02.03.13
Based on the reviews I had hoped for better with this foundation. The color is not natural and the coverage is just ok. Very annoying is the packaging. Because it's black you have no idea how much is in there and when you are running low. Even more annoying is the pump to get the foundation out. No matter what I do, it clogs and fly's everywhere. I use the beauty blender and put the nozzle right next to it, but I still end up with a stream of foundation flying everywhere and sometimes hitting the wall!! Yikes, I won't buy this again

Great Coverage
-02.01.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing
I recently purchased this foundation after a long search for something not too heavy but with good coverage. This was a miracle! I have very fair skin with a pink undertone so it was hard to find the perfect match, this was spot on! I have been very impressed with this foundation, it's light with good coverage and has SPF 20. Great product!

FINALLY a great foundation for pastey people!
-01.28.13
Quick Take: uh-maz-ing
I have fair skin, but not the natural pretty fair skin. It's more the "I'm not allowed to be in the sun anymore so I'm forced to have pale skin when I really should be tan" sort of fair skin. All other light colored foundations end up being really yellow based and they make me look like I have jaundice, but this one is PERFECTION. It feels great on the skin, lasts all day, and doesn't clog pores. And while it is Matte it somehow also still makes you look slightly dewy . . . the price tag is a little hefty for what I normally like to pay, but it is well worth it. Apply it with a foundation brush and you have a great fresh-faced look.

Unusual and very, very good for my needs
-01.27.13
Quick Take: buildable coverage, long wearing, oil-free, on the sheer to medium side not full coverage, has believable glow does not look oily
This is an unusual fdtn as it gives the oh so popular glow from within but is not too moisturizing that it slides off and has less coverage - more sheer- than it's counterparts, namely UD Naked, Dior Glow, YSL TE, etc. I was using Guerlain Lingerie but that has way too much coverage - you need pretty good skin to use this - and the color selection was not nearly as good. I wore 3.0 to 3.5 in UD Naked and number 4 is a perfect match. The colors are on the neutral side and look better imo, even if there are only eight. Another plus compared to the "glow within" other fdtns is that this lasts a lot longer. I have dry skin, wear a moisturizer and HourGlass primer underneath and it lasts literally for 10 hours.
