I've been using this primer for a week so far and I'm obsessed. Keeps my foundation and concealed all day as a primer should. I'm absolutely shocked that this is actually helping my dark spots. I've had acne for 8 years which has led to tons of dark spots and this has actually cleared some of them up. I highly suggest this if you have acne and dark spots.

First, and foremost, smashbox makes AMAZIIINNNGGG primers. The photo finish, the hydrating, and all the others are amazing. And this one is no exception!
It is a great primer. Yes, when you look at the primer, it does have some light glimmer but don't fret, gals! Honestly, it doesn't even show up and it may probably help with adding some glow to your look (but that could all be in my head lol).
This primer does wonders for my makeup application. It gives me a smooth canvas to work on and keeps the lines and makeup fading from happening. I run around my restaurant and my makeup looks amazing.
And as for the dark spot correcting, Let me just explain how i use this primer. I use this primer in the morning only on my dark spots and then put on moisturizer & SPF (yes, you better with any dark spot corrector) and powder, bronzer& blush and go about my day. I use it all over my face when I apply liquid foundation for work on the weekends. And, I apply the primer at night after toning and before my acne serum on the dark spot areas.
So far, it has been 2 weeks and I must say that my dark spots are indeed fading. It's a slow process but I can't complain. I get a primer and a dark spot corrector all in one and it actually works so its worth the price!
Downside? It smells like glue for the first couple of seconds and its not moisturizing so I would definitely let it soak in on the spots and then apply a light oil-free moisturizer on top after. It needs to be on bare skin to work so make sure you apply everything after. I let my toner sink in for awhile before I apply the primer on my spots to make sure everything gets time to work & absorb into my skin.
If you feel that your skin is too dry alone, quickly splash some water, gently blot it dry and then apply the primer if you want some more moisture before you put on the primer. By the time you put your moisturizer & SPF, you won't feel so dry.
Remember, not everything works on everyone but it does work for me so I hope it does for you too !

Ive always used smash box primers and although I think the original is the best I wanted to try this for the dark spot fading benefits. While the primer is great I have yet to notice any change in my dark spots and this was pricier for that reason. I'm hoping to see better results with more use. All in all smash box primers are a must for any makeup regimens.

I am kinda addicted to it. Maybe going to buy another one in case this one runs out. It is a lot of money for a small little bottle that you use twice a day. Although I have been using it for over two weeks, I have not seen a difference in my acne scars. It gives you a smooth and matte finish. I do not know to use it under moisturizer or over, although the girl at Sephora told me to use it under.

Quick Take: reliable
After a disastrous experience with a bb cream, I chose to go back to my previous routine of moisturizer, sunscreen and primer before makeup. I referred to the reviews on this site and have been using the smashbox for 1 week. It's too early to see the sunspots fade, but it does provide a great, non-fussy canvas for my makeup.

This is the first primer I've used and I really like it. Not sure that if the Dark Spot Corrector is really working or not. It says use twice a day on bare skin. But I use it once before my makeup and over my moisturizer. That may be the issue. I do like how brighter my skin looks though. My husband has even complemented it.

I've heard great things about Smashbox primer so I purchased this dark spot correcting primer. In my opinion it doesn't do anything to lighten dark spots under my makeup or reduce the look of pores. It doesn't do anything that my $5 face moisturizer doesn't. This product claims a lot but isn't worth the $42 in my opinion.

I have been using this primer for a few months now and I really don't see any marks lightening. I think the original smashbox primer leaves my skin softer and makes the makeup last longer. I will be buying the regular formula next time.

Not worth the Money, Smashbox had this amazing primer/illuminator in a sample box I got 3 years ago and nothing they have come up with has come close.

I have always loved the smooth appearance this product gives my skin but it doesn't diminish dark spots. Same effect as regular smash box primer ... I do use a serum and moisturizer underneath

I originally bought this as it says its a dark spot correcting primer but I did not notice any reduction on my dark spots by using this product for over a month. Also, I don't like how watery this primer is and it kind of has a gross smell to it. I was very disappointed. Over priced and useless!

I'm not a fan of greasy, silicone feeling primers. This one is the opposite of that. So smooth and absorbant, your foundation just GLIDES on after you apply this! While I'm not so sure about if it really corrects my dark spots, the formula alone is worth it!

I have been a religious user of smashbox's photofinish light and it was the only primer that didn't make me break out or make my face shiny. I have acne-prone skin, so dark spots just happen to my face. I bought this and it works even BETTER! It lasts longer through the day and even though I only use it once a day, I have noticed a slight difference in my dark spots in just 1 week. It may be a little more expensive than their others, but it's worth it!
