Odd smell

This lipstick had a very strange and off-putting smell. Also, the color (Rouge Rock) was a much brighter orange-toned red than it appeared on the color chart. Back it went.

Quick Take: creamy, long wearing, not drying, truly matte, highly pigmented, opaque
I purchased this product in 206 Grenat Satisfaction, I have a love for vampy colors. The red was nice, however I have way too many red to be able to justify purchasing ANOTHER one. I was excited to use this one, because all of the other plumy-vampy colors has some shine to it, and this was a true matte. Sometimes I’m hesitant when it comes to purchasing matte lipsticks, because in my experience they’ve dried out my lips, or extenuated ever lip imperfection.
I trust YSL, especially when it comes to lip products already (I have 6 Rouge Voulpté, and 5 Rouge Voulpté Shine, 1 Golden Gloss (shimmering), 2 Rouge Couture Satin, and one of these… so you can say I’m kind of a fan). This applies like a dream, it’s not too creamy, definitely not too drying, while offering a completely matte opaque finish.
209 Grenat Satisfaction: I remember when I saw this color online, fell in love with it. This color is absolutely per-fect, it goes on true to the lipstick color (sometimes lip products apply sheerer than what it looks like). I went to my YSL counter and swatched this on my hand, love. I have very fair skin, so this makes my lips just pop, but it has enough plum in it to not look Goth. My other favorite vampy color is Chanel Rouge Coco ‘Ballet Russe’, but that has more of a satin finish.
Overall, this is a great lipstick. It has good staying power, it’s highly pigmented, it’s truly matte, it’s not drying… what else could you ask for?

I really miss the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Fard A Levres. I'm not sure why they've phased it out--the staying power was incredible. Maybe it was full of lead. Who cares? 150 was an amazing true red; I've been rationing it out since I learned it was a special edition. Anywho, this is about YSL Rouge Pur Couture Mat 201 Orange Imagine. Please don't let the name fool you, this is not an orange lipstick--it's more like a clear bright red with a yellow undertone. Great staying power and like with the rest of the YSL lipsticks, I love how you can use the elegant gold case as a mirror to re-apply after dinner, without having to whip out your compact. Love the matte texture and have ordered the 203 Rouge Rock as well. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a saturated matte red lipstick.

I get so many compliments on this lip stick every time I'm wearing it. The quality is amazing, always looks fresh and looks great in pictures. I never have to worry about it getting clumpy on my lips. YSL has really changed my opinion on most lipsticks - you won't see me using any other brand.

great shade and lovely texture

Quick Take: creamy, moisturizing, intense vibrant color
I purchased this lipstick in Orange Imagine (201). The color is fantastic--a bright orangey red that really pops, especially on fair skin. It is a lovely creamy texture that glides on easily and is moisturizing. I wouldn't consider this lipstick long-wearing but more of a mid-wear. You will have to reapply and use a lipliner to keep the color from bleeding.

Amazing lipstick! Doesn't flake, truly weightless! Stays on for hours!!! I got the 203 and my skin tone is medium to dark tanned. Absolutely love and I get lots o comments too! 203 is a vintage red, elegant colour on the lips. 201 is more orange and playful, modern colour.

i just got it , it is a new color in 2012 fall. i just love it ,it is really hard to decide if i should buy 203 or 201, but 201 is little orange, and 203 is little deep red. finally i got 203, it can make my skin look like brighter. but you look like a sweet girl , tan or little yellow skin, 201 will be your best choice ( cuz my friend bought it, she has that kind of skin)
