Atelier Cologne Bois Blonds Cologne Absolue

A surprise in a bottle

My disclaimer: I'll begin by saying, I ordered the entire sample collection directly from Atelier Cologne (the Sephoras in my area don't carry the line). As a man, I am always apprehensive to order a unisex fragrance...most of the time, they are way too feminine for my tastes. I'm working my way through each one to help me decide which one (or ones) I'll be ordering from sephora.com.
This fragrance surprised me. As a general rule, I’m not particularly fond of fragrances which contain vetiver. It’s just not a fragrance I enjoy. However, Bois Blonds is not like the rest. It leads with almost a sweet and spicy mix of bergamot and pink pepper. There’s a hint of neroli but it dissipates fairly quickly. The orange flower notes linger a bit longer but do eventually fade. There’s also a certain smokiness I can only assume comes from the incense. By the end of the day, the wood and musk notes had settled in. The vetiver was a minor player in this fragrance. It seemed to lend a cleanness to the lend. It is a little on the feminine side when compared to Trèfle Pur or Oolong Infini but I would wear it again (and probably will).

i love love love this scent- i am absolutely obsessed. it is so fresh and clean and not overpowering at all. and i BATHE in it! I always get compliments on it- my husband even told me i like it (and he doesn't like fragrances!).
