Not only are these brushes soft, but are portable. They're not too big and not quite too small either. If you have a small purse, these would fit well in it. The case is a pretty silver and there are four slots for each of the brushes on the inside. The bristles hug your skin like a teddy bear versus the original goat hair brushes (I kept a minimum of those as a backup, the Handy Buki being my main fall back brush for foundation application). Taklon is a synthetic, non-animal fiber. Very soft, safe and not as rough or irritation prone as the goat hair brushes. Most of my brushes now have soft, silky bristles like these brushes or the Precision Face Brush designed for the READY foundation. I would highly recommend this.
