Nothing has the staying power of this stuff. I was at an event -- had some cake, several glasses of wine and sparking water, and the lip color was still in tact. My friend turned to me and said, "So I haven't seen you sneak off to reapply your lipstick, how is it still on?" And I told her my secret.
It took a little finesse and practice to get the application right. I've found applying some sort of lip balm or treatment -- Laura Mercier lip silk or Eucerin Aquaphor -- letting it soak in, then blotting the treatment a little bit, and finally applying the lip tar helps. Also, make sure to do the finger trick, because bright pink stuff all over your teeth is not a cute look!
I look forward to trying new colors in the future -- just wish my local Sephora stocked a wider range of colors -- they only have about three or four colors thrown in with the impulse buy stuff by the registers :(

Overall, I love this product. I own Queen and Black Dahlia. I love them both. It is long wearing, but some of my lipstains go through more.
I do love the product, though

new favorite lip product!
-05.21.13
Quick Take: long wearing, bright, highly pigmented, drying
Lip tar is nor a lipstick or a lip gloss. like others i was so excited to try it and i was not disappointed. The only down side to this product is it is a bit drying if you have it on for a while. i wore it to my prom. i purchased stalker and super nsfw. i wasnt a fan of the metallic finish on the super nsfw but loved the stalker. it was extremely, extremely bright and pigmented and stood out. i used a clear lip liner with it and it stayed perfectly. the only time i had to reapply it was after eating. love this product!

My new obsession!
-05.20.13
Love this product! I bought Ophelia and Anime and I love both of them! Yes it can be drying I highly recommend wearing the clear primer or chapstick under it! A little goes a LONG way, seriously. It does feather so thats the only reason I gave it 4 instead of five stars I cant wait to purchase more.

drying.
-05.20.13
I purchased the obsessive compulsive lip tar with high expectations. I purchased the shade "femme." First of all, the tube is very complicated and even with the brush, it was nearly impossible to put on. It was also very drying and it just did not work for me at all.

Harlot Review
-05.18.13
Quick Take: long wearing, creamy, moisturizing, rock n roll, high quality, impressive, great investment, the best, great color selection, amazing, creative, one of a kind, inspiring
I've had a bunch of these lip tars! I love love love them. They stay on a long time, the color range is phenomenal. The staying power is phenomenal. The value is phenomenal. How one teeny tiny little droplet on the end of a toothpick can cover your entire lips for a whole night? Impossible but its true.
Harlot is my new favorite. Its the real Popsicle red I was looking for. It really looks like I've been sucking on a red popsicle. SUPER CUTE HAPPY FUN TIME! It also has a kind of flapper girl flair to it as well. Great for the Summer! Whooo!

I have NSFW and Black Dahlia, and both are excellent - true to tube color, opaque, and long-lasting. I do get some feathering with these, so a good lipliner is a must, and they invariably transfer to everything my lips touch.
Swatch before you buy though. Though most are pretty opaque, some are not. Tarred is not the beautiful solid black I was expecting.

"Queen" Coral Pink is summer perfect
-05.17.13
Quick Take: long wearing, creamy, super pigmented
"Queen" is a beautiful, happy color and is perfect for summer. It's a super pigmented and long lasting coral pink lipstick/lipgloss on a tube. A tiny speck on the included lip brush is enough to use on entire lip. {I'm not kidding} -- It can be used as a stain as well then topped off with a clear shimmery gloss. "Annika" a pale neutral peach is a beautiful color as well - it's more of a classic nude in color and goes perfect with a smokey eye.

A wonderful product. I would have given five stars if it had a little bit of gloss in the finish. A matte product with wonderful stay power and a great base for lip gloss.

Ophelia
-05.16.13
The first lip tar I've tried is Ophelia. It is kind of a chalky pink, and I think it works well w clear lip gloss over it. I do like the opacity of it since the color of my lips usually turns even the bluest reds a hot pink. Also a lovely minty flavor. I look forward to experimenting w other colors. Summary: lots of colors, opacity, minty fresh!

My favorite lip product
-05.13.13
Quick Take: long wearing, hard to apply, vibrant, awesome color selection, expensive
Lip color is my "thing" - if I have bare lips, people who see me every day will inevitably ask me if I feel okay. I know my way around lipstick, and lip tars are my absolute favorite product to accent my personal style! They come in every color imaginable (and they're mixable), are extremely vibrant, and they wear for hours at a time without needing to reapply. I own eleven different ones. I will admit that they are pretty pricey (I bought my full-size tubes when they were $16) though since you only have to use a tiny bit per application you definitely get your money's worth. They also aren't the quickest and easiest to apply - although with the wear time you won't need to do touch ups. I really don't think you can beat the wear time or color selection, though. All in all, I am a complete convert to OCC and rarely wear traditional lipstick.

Obsessive compulsive is right!
-05.13.13
Quick Take: long wearing, messy
I am not sure why anyone would buy this in a normal lipstick color because it's a lot of work. I got it in blue to express my fan support for a sports team. Based on my own experience, if you want a color that will get attention, this is it. People were stopping me to check out my lips.
That's the upside. The downside is that this tar smears worse than any lipstick or lip gloss or lip anything I have ever used. At various points in the evening I had lip tar in places that no lipstick should ever go. Whereas you can wipe off most lipstick mistakes with your pinkie, erasing an errant lip tar mark requires a focused attack.
No one will want to share your water bottle. Trust me.
I am going to do a little research and see if there's anything I can put over the tar, like a top coat, to set it. This is definitely not a product I will use every day!

Clear lip tar
-05.13.13
Quick Take: long wearing, moisturizing
Once you get the hang of this stuff it's really great. The secret is to use the smallest amount you can imagine on the tip of a small brush and then work it into your lips. It really is amazing when you figure it out and you can blend these and make your own colors although I am not that brave. I bought the clear lip tar to help with the dryness and was advised to put this on first and then apply a colored one. I was a bit doubtful but guess what? It works! And these tubes last forever so I'd recommend getting one if you have any dryness at all. I think you'll love it.

Can't get enough of "Queen"!
-05.12.13
Queen is the shade I purchased in my first OCC lip tar. I'm sold! The finish is lovely and just the perfect combo of coral, pink, red, that is absolutely flattering and not brash and harsh! It's a keeper.

LOVE at first LIP
-05.12.13
Quick Take: long wearing, true color
Now I know why they're called OCC. I'm officially obsessed. My new favorite lip product. Not a lipstick, not a stain, but somewhere in between. I bought the color "Stalker" because I've been hunting for a blue-based red that was true to color. I have a medium skin tone with mild rosacea, so true reds and orangey reds make me look too red. I went to Cheesecake Factory and ate a ton to test the staying power. Amazing. After eating, my girlfriend went to Sephora to buy it. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because it got a little dry for my liking. I also did not use the clear lip tar, so I want to see if that gives me a little more moisture. Ps. I used Make Up Forever's clear lip liner to keep it from bleeding.
