I like subtle but...

I like subtle, which is why I went ahead and ordered this after reading the reviews. Problem is, it's so subtle you can't see it, and my hair is so dark, it almost looks black. If you can't see it in my hair, well, that's just beyond subtle.
I like most Alterna products I've tried, but my one complaint with them is the perfume. I really wish they wouldn't use it, but the products are good enough that I use them in spite of that. In this product, that problem is worse than usual, taking me to the point where I just couldn't stand it at all. Thank goodness for Sephora's great return policy.

Quick Take: disappointing, pretty on the shelf though
I am a die-hard LOVER of all things Caviar...especially the smell of the shampoo and conditioner...but this product has the worst, most overpowering smell, and the glitter is so subtle that it is almost unnoticable...if the smell was like the other products and it also held like hair spray, I wouldnt mind, but it does neither. Thumbs down!

Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky
I am purchasing this product for the second time. I love it! Yes, sparkles are very subtle. What I love is the fragrance. I use it like this: When I am done styling my hair, I give a nice mist all around and then gently hold 1" sections together separately as it is drying. It gives your hair that wonderful "beachy" playing in the sun all day look! I highly recommend and am rating it a 5 star product!

Quick Take: easy to use
I don't agree with other comments that it is too sweet smelling....it is very nice, not overpowering at all. And I am a fan of subtly. If I wanted a bunch of glitter to show in my hair I would get it at a craft store! I love this stuff. Will be nice in the summer as well, not just for the holidays. The only reason I gave it 4 stores and not 5 is because I always prefer an aerosol or eco pump.

I am a fan of alterna products but this is one product I did not like. The smell is too strong and horrible. I returned the product because I didn't even want to use it. Really surprised with the bad smell.

Strong sweet smell

I really can't see the sparkles, they are subtle to say the least. I would keep it but the strong smell ( smells like pineapple) REALLY bothers me and I don't want to walk around with this smell.

Amazing Sparkle & Fragrance

Quick Take: easy to use, lightweight, non-sticky, very shiny sparkle!
I'm new to Alterna and this is my 2nd purchase. So far I'm liking both products. I got the Anti Aging Shampoo & Condtioner and now this Glitterati.
First I was really surprised by the bottle. Knowing it is 3.3 ounces, I thought the bottle would be small, but it is almost 7 inches tall! Then I should mention I was almost scared because it looked like gel - but it isn't. There is so much fine sparkles in this product it's UNbelieveable. No need to shake this product at all....aim and spray!
I have to say that to spend this amount of money on hair glitter spray is something I don't usually do. I've bought so many similar products only to have huge globs of glitter in my hair & smell like a cupcake and my hair was always sticky. Yuk!
Alterna's Glitterati is really nice. The first few sprays were rather heavy, but still no globs. The 3rd spray and on is just what you'd expect - a fine mist spray. I actually sprayed it on my arm first and thought - "there's no sparkle?" but as soon as I got in the light - boy did I sparkle!! So NO excessive spraying or you'll end up with so much glitter you'll be washing your hair for days!
AND - my hair was not stiff or sticky at all, just a perfect amount of hold.
Now for the scent. It says lime, citrus and coconut - Alterna's signature scent. I don't smell any coconut <but it could just be my nose>. I do smell citrus, which includes the lime, but there is something sweet in there too. It's hard for me to describe, but it is a very pleasant fragrance, considering it is a hair spray.
All in all - a definite keeper and I would definitely purchase again. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a non sticky/stiff hold with lots of shine & a great scentl!
