I got this sample for my son ... he tried it on and was sure it was for a woman. My husband then checked it out and we had to go online to confirm that it was intended for a man. Anyhow, ultimate decision was that it smelled like something for an old lady. I am female and it wasn't for me and they hated it, soooo .... no good.

Quick Take: travel-friendly, good value
I had no idea that this was for men. I have the sample and think it's simply beautiful. It's for those of us who love oud and other eastern scents. Some of the negative reviews might be from younguns who like sugary scents--okay--they're kind of fun. But this is much more sophisticated. I'm not good at the language of perfume description and characterization but there is some kind of pleasant undertone that assails my nostrils from time to time. My husband really likes it on me.

Just Masculine Enough

Quick Take: good value, long-lasting, strong, luxurious
My body chemistry tends to make feminine scents overwhelmingly sweet, so I tend to go for more masculine scents. I absolutely love this scent because it IS more feminine, but it is just masculine enough to take the edge off of the sweetness my body chemistry adds to most perfumes and colognes. I would recommend this to both men AND women depending on their personal preferences and their body chemistry. Overall, I get a lot of the rose out of this scent as well as the leather and the patchouli, which are my all-time favorite scents in any fragrance. It is also extremely powerful and long-lasting. After I apply it, I have to wait about ten minutes for it to settle down before I go anywhere, or else others tend to get overwhelmed by the top notes. Overall, this is beautiful and luxurious and definitely worth every penny.

Quick Take: good value, travel-friendly, reusable
I think this is a beautiful scent. I absolutely love it, one of my very favorite fragrances. The reason that my rating is so low is because I personally wear it. It has a very feminine quality to it. I bought it for my boyfriend and ended up keeping it for myself because I liked it so much. Not a very masculine scent, but still very lovely.

I bought this for my husband as I do most of his fragrances. I have to say that this one blew me away, it is spicy and musky and just made me want to sniff him all night. Ladies if you want your man to smell edible you have to buy this as a gift for him.

I was so excited for this sample to come in the mail. It probably isn't a bad scent, but both my husband and I HATED it. We both wanted to like it, as we are big Tom Ford fans, but it's much too powdery and feminine. I'm not sure what exactly it is that I don't like, but I really don't like it. Sorry Tom.

I received this as a sample. I think it's wonderful on my husband. Though it's very strong when sprayed the scent lasts. I can still smell it on him at the end of the day. And I like it :)

Purchased this for my brother for Christmas. He is a huge fan of Tom Ford, especially the colognes (except Extreme, as he describes that one as a club-wear fragrance). This is his favorite of all of Tom Ford's colognes he has tried thus far. I sprayed it on myself in the store, it was a bit powdery upon first application, and was extremely impressed with how beautifully this scent wears throughout the day. I would recommend this to all guys that are looking to purchase a new cologne, especially those who are interested in starting to wear Tom Ford fragrances.

this smells like somebody dumpppedddd a pound of powder down ur nose...STRAIT POWDER THIS IS HORRIBLE..im glad i got a FREE sample and didnt buy without smelling it ....im 22 years young and i would not tell anybody my age to get this its just horrible..guys my age like to smell good for the LADIES..this is not for the ladies guys dont waist ur money on this

I just received a free sample of this with a purchase from Sephora and I realize this may be for men...but I'm totally wearing it and I'm totally loving it. I love Ford's Black Orchid, and this, I feel, is the men's version of that beautiful, mysterious scent. I love the depth of Noir..bravo Mr. Ford...bravo!
