Quick Take: pigmented, nourishing, long-lasting, beautiful, fun
Amazing colors! And very pigmented -- you only need a very small drop! I typically only wear neutrals and corals so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I love Pretty Boy! It was such a bright magenta -- not something I usually wear, but stunning. Vintage and Stalker were also something out of my comfort zone but well worth it. They're gorgeous colors, even if I only wear them around the house! Grandma and Melange are, of course, typical of the colors I tend to wear and so I adore them. I'm thinking I'll probably end up wearing Melange to my wedding, since it's so long-lasting!
You have to be careful though -- if you apply too much, it WILL run. You should also let them dry before eating or drinking, or it may come off. Once set though, they're pretty durable. Well worth the $$! Can't wait to get the other set!

Makes my lips look like plastic. Way too runny, wears off after about 2 minutes after wearing it. Tried to mix shades, still got the gross plasticky look no matter what. Too expensive for the quality.

There's a bit of an application learning curve (exfoliate your lips first and you only need the tiniest bit on the brush) but once you figure that out, lip tars are excellent. They last ALL DAY and do not budge.

I'm professional make-up artist and I've been looking for the easy to use lipsticks for blending for make-up application. And there comes out the great one I couldn't resist! Highly pigmented and long lasting. The great thing is you can blend them to any customized color you want! The only down side is it dries out a little bit after a while. But you can put a layer of chapstick or lip gloss on top to seal the color and solve the dryness.

Quick Take: incredible, long-wearing, insane pigmentation, great value
There are seriously no words to describe how in love I am with this product. The pigmentation and longevity is outstanding, the colors and actually mix-able so even the pink fuschia one is wearable, and such a miniscule amount goes such a long way that the small tube isn't even a factor...I am at a loss. This is incredible! 2 tiny TINY things to note: 1) the colors on their own can be garish, so be sure to mix and match before you commit 2) the removal process is kinda difficult. I had tested it on my hand first, and when I used a makeup remover-soaked cotton pad, it left traces of color on my skin. No problem for my lips though (meaning there was no residue) so I don't know why that was. But other than those 2 things, this product is brilliant! Definitely will be buying more colors, maybe even the volume 2 set! XD

The colors of this lip tar set are nice - they are vibrant and it is true you can mix them for some customization. However, the color does not stay on evenly. Even with lip primer, the lip tar does not dry for quite a long time. Then it starts to fade off unevenly. On several occasions, I have gotten to a mirror to find a clown-like appearance - lip color just on the top left; or lip color around the bottom edge only; or lip color that has bled outside of the lip line and you end up with a line of color running out on your face. It is very, very inconsistent. Between the cost of the product, the time to apply primer (which you have to buy separately) and then lip tar and to let it dry, it is a lot of time and cost for really a very sub-par product.

I love the feel of this product! The pigmentation is amazing and I love the lasting power. It's also a great value because you really only need one drop of it. The only issue that I've had is with the colors- the fuchsia is TRULY fuchsia. The dark burgundy is the only color that I can wear regularly. I am glad that I got this kit and it is a great value, I just need to experiment with their other colors!

The products are great. Color is vibrate and beautiful. Would recommend to everyone. NEEDS TO ADD A BRUSH FOR EACH COLOR. ONE BRUSH FOR FIVE COLORS IS WORTHLESS.

I was very excited to create a bunch of new and exciting colors from OCC but when I got it and started mixing with the white OCC lip tars, I realized that I don't have the time and energy to mix colors and pray that they go with my outfit.. Had to return it.
Wasn't for me. I'm always on the go. But I love the colors and flexibility of shades.

Thise set gives you a great selection of colors. They are very, very pigmented and I did not find them drying but I had a hear time keeking the color on my lips on not on my coffee cup. I am going to buy the Clear Tar and see if that helps. I will keep it regardless because the colors are amazing.

You will very rarely find me without lip color on my mouth. It was one of the first cosmetics I ever used, after blush, and it made such an extreme positive difference in my appearance that I never venture to the supermarket or the local drugstore without it. My skin is very fair, and my natural lips leave me looking ghost-like. Sephora's Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic's "Pro's Picks Lip Tar Set" is a steal! "Tar" isn't the appropriate word to describe the texture--it is quite smooth. It glides over lips easily, and just the tiniest amount is needed for coverage. The hues in this kit offer something for everone and range from neutral to vivid (trying blending to create your own unique color!). Before applying, lips should be "prepped" first with OCC's "Tar" in "Clear" or a good lip balm. The brush is necessary for two reasons--it makes for a defined, prettier pout, and it keeps the stain off fingers (I initially swept it on with a finger and had to use makeup remover to completely clear away the color). There is a gentle tinge of peppermint; that's because peppermint in an ingredient included as a natural antibacterial and anti-microbial agent (clever company!). Hemp oil adds moisture, but some women find this just a bit drying. That's easy enough to remedy--follow with a good, non-sticky topcoat. OCC's "Lip Tar" is great; it lasts forever. Don't be surprised if you still find a hint of tint on your mouth after a long day and night out. It is SUPER for those who need long-wearing, beautiful color.

I really do like this product BUT, you must be very good about keeping your lips well moisturized, otherwise it will be too drying. If you know you are going to wear it one day, take steps the night before, and put Vaseline on your lips before going to bed. That way, it can be working while you sleep! Easy!! ,

Quick Take: opaque, dramatic, long-wearing, bold
I bought this set sort of on a whim. I don't have a lot of opaque lip colors, and after reading the other reviews I decided to give the lip tars a shot. I have to say that I'm SO happy I made that decision. Although each tube is kind of small, they will last FOREVER. You need the tiniest amount of product to cover your lips. You can also easily mix and match to make your own custom colors (although I highly suggest doing this on a palette, not the back of your hand, as it will definitely stain!). The product is very liquid-y and you definitely need the brush to apply. I also would suggest putting aside extra time for application if you're a gloss-and-go kind of person, as this will take a significantly greater amount of precision. Also, I would highly recommend using a primer of some kind underneath. This will help tremendously will bleeding/feathering/fading. All in all, it's worth the extra effort. Your lips will be beautiful, bold, and dramatic. I don't usually get compliments on my lipstick, but every time I wear one of these colors I do!

Quick Take: long wearing, bold, highly pigmented
My makeup collection was in dire need of lip color (I'm usually a sheer gloss kind of girl) and after perusing the reviews I decided to give this set a shot. I'm so excited that I did! These colors are AWESOME. They are super, super pigmented, and you literally need the tiniest amount to get full application. I'm pretty sure each of these tubes will last forever.
I highly suggest getting a tray or palette for the mixing of colors. It's super fun to be able to mix and match and create custom colors for yourself.
I also highly suggest using a primer on your lips prior to applying, as they have a tendency to bleed and feather otherwise. Also plan on putting aside a few extra minutes to apply if you're used to taking three seconds to swipe on some lip balm or gloss. A little precision is required, but the end result is so worth it - bold, beautiful, dramatic lips. I've gotten tons of compliments on my lip color when I wear these, and I'm sure you will too!
