ALTERNA Caviar Repair RX Micro-Bead Fill & Fix Treatment Masque

What it is: A deeply reparative treatment with encapsulated microbeads that help to restructure strands, filling in gaps and tears while smoothing the hair cuticle. What it does: This is a deeply reparative treatment with encapsulated microbeads that activate on contact with warm water to release a highly concentrated dose of Strand-Building Proteins. This powerful ingredient helps to restructure strands, filling in gaps and tears while smoothing the hair cuticle. Nourishing and strengthening each individual strand, this wonder treatment improves manageability, leaving hair soft, shiny, and completely restored. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates - Phthalates What else you need to know: Strand-Building Proteins target damage at the microscopic level, working to repair each individual strand of hair. Delivering essential nutrients to the hair’s interior cortex, it nourishes and strengthens strands and fills in gaps and tears in the damaged cuticle, reconstructing this protective layer to ensure that nutrients do not escape. It also cements the newly constructed, exterior cuticle to the interior cortex, ensuring that the scales of the hair lay flat. Additionally, it seals and reinforces the cuticle layer with a defensive shield that strengthens the strand to increase resistance to breakage while infusing hair with vital antioxidants to help prevent free radical penetration and other damage from occurring. The result is stronger, smoother, softer, and shinier strands fully restored to their healthy, pre-damaged state.

THOSE BEADS!!!
-05.14.13
I seriously hate the beads. It is a cool idea, but I'm not sure how they could be effective when they just end up all over your shower. My hair does feel softer though. I have seriously extremely damanged (bleached) hair and almost nothing works for me. I use this mask instead of a conditioner. It works pretty well, but I will still be looking for something more effective.

Oh, Come On!
-04.12.13
Quick Take: a gimmick, smelly, purposeless
This concoction is putrid. Maybe I received an old batch, but whatever the case, after using this mask I noticed (as I was letting my hair air-dry) that when I ran my fingers through my hair, I had little pearlized flakes on my hands. WTF, remnants of the "caviar" beads were still in my hair! People, forget the gimmicks! I understand that when first opening this product a person may think, "Oooh, look at all those luxurious beads, just pure creamy goodness for my overworked hair!" Unfortunately, that's not the case. These greenish-grayish beads that are floating around in this slop break open (as you'd expect) but there's nothing in them & the outside shell is left behind in your hair. No luxurious feel & the product stinks (literally smells sour-y/chemical-ly). The best mask is Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer - it leaves your strands manageable & silky soft - I just thought I was onto something good when I read about the beads as I was shopping Sephora for other products. No thanks, I'll stick with the Elasticizer (philipkingsley.com).

Not necessary with caviar conditioner
-02.24.13
I've been using the caviar shampoo and conditioner which I like a lot. I bought this thinking it would be a good deep condition for once or twice per week. I don't notice a bit of difference between this masque and the caviar conditioner. It's not a bad product, but nothing special above the same line of conditioner so it was a waste of money for me.

Quick Take: quick results
Omg this masque is very good it help my dry frizzy hair and stop the breakage in my hair but you have to leave it in your hair for at least 20-35 mins for best results and even my husband has seen the difference he loves my hair and I get númerous compliments of how healthy and shiny is my hair.

WTF those little beads?
-02.16.13
Quick Take: repairs damage, smells great
I got this mask not from Sephora, but from my hair salon, and thought because it is a new product for Sephora's site I would leave my review.
Overall, this mask is great for damaged or chemically treated hair. I recently went through a series of bleaching to get my hair from red to white and was in desperate need of not only a deep conditioner, but something that contained protein to rebuild some strength.
The good: This masks smells great. Has a "hair producty" smell, but it very pleasant to use. The consistency is smooth and creamy and goes over hair with ease (I brush mine through with a wide toothed comb to get better distribution). The protein (in conjuction with other products I am using), has truly made a difference on the overall strength of my hair.
The bad: The protein is kept in small little beads that are liberally dispersed throughout the product. The idea is that the protein beads will "pop" under warm water and coat your hair. Though this is a great concept, the execution needs more work. After thoroughly rinsing my hair, I continue to find these "little beads" all over my scalp. The material that the beads are encased in, needs to be less strong so that all of them can pop.
Other than that, this is a good product. I will not be repurchasing sheerly because of the cost for a product that does not fully function how it is meant to. I am giving this product 3 stars (one point taken off for cost, another for those little beads that don't function properly...)
Hope that helps someone.

Could not be happier with the results
-02.07.13
Quick Take: easy to use, quick results
Great results after just one use. A bit more expensive than I'm used to spending on hair products, but much cheaper than a salon treatment. I used it as directed and then used the Caviar Repair Re-texturizing protein cream before blow drying my hair, and now my hair is voluminous, softer, and looks much healthier.

I've had my hair lifted 5-6 times in a year and went from black to blonde - needless to say, my hair was left a bit damaged. I had tons of those dreaded white spots at the ends where my hair was ready to break off, and some of my hair was more coarse than my boyfriend's beard. I began using this mask along with the shampoo and conditioner, and KeratinPerfect and Ojon hair oil to restore my hair. After about a month, the texture of my hair has completely transformed - it is no longer frizzy, puffy, or coarse. The only complaint I have is that these products did not do much to "repair" the existing breakage as they claim to, but I'm happy with the overall results.

Must try!

Quick Take: easy to use, quick results, amazing
I bought this due to the previous review, being only 1 review I was skeptical but...
I used this in the shower after I co washed my hair. The directions said leave in for three minutes, I applied a good thick amount all over my hair, massaged it in, placed a shower cap on my head and left it in for a good 30 minutes(adding NO heat, normally to see results I have to add heat from a hairdryer under a shower cap). Then I rinsed it out. I let my air hair air dry natrually and wow. I see a major difference in my hair and this is after the first use. My hair looks much healthier, thicker, prettier, just an amazing difference after the first use. I now just applied a tiny amount in my hand and ran through my hair for over night. I have to say at first when it was wet it felt smoother, but I was unsure of results, I almost added other products to my hair but am now glad I didn't so I can see what the mask did alone without other products. So yes This is a keeper I love it and now, I am interested in trying other alterna products.
Normally, I have very dry, damaged, natrual curly very messy thin hair, this stuff changed that in a matter of one use. I will continue to use this product.
One more thing as a curly girl it's kind of a no no to brush your hair when it's dry, I brushed my hair out after it was dry and wow nice ;).

Beautiful soft hair!
-01.02.13
Quick Take: easy to use, quick results
A few months ago I tried to highlight my hair with an at-home treatment and ruined it (instead of blonde highlights, I got yellow and white splotches everywhere!!!). My beautiful waist-length hair was broken and crumbling! I started going to a salon for treatments to strengthen it and had a brunette toner applied to even out the color but was still desperate to be able to lighten my hair color back to blonde! My cuticles were shot and every time I washed my hair it would get matted and break off when brushing. The salon treatments helped a lot but were expensive. My hair stylist recommended this masque and I noticed the difference immediately!! After entirely switching over to the Alterna Caviar Moisture line my hair was already feeling much better but this really made the difference. I use enough to really massage into my scalp and all the way down to the tips of my hair. There are little capsules of moisture beads that burst and dissolve to deposit the treatment on your hair. I'm a little OCD with those things...I don't want to waste any since the masque is pretty expensive but I gave up on trying to get every single one to pop. It helps to really massage it into your hair and then wrap it up in a hot, steamy shower for about 20 minutes. I still apply conditioner after rinsing it out. Even after the first use my hair felt completely different. It was soft and manageable, not matted and stiff. I use it about twice a week and even my hair stylist is surprised at the difference it has made. My hair is almost repaired enough to lighten the color back up!! I would definitely recommend this product along with the entire Alterna Caviar line...it is pricey but way less expensive than even one salon visit and my hair is healthier than it has ever been.
