Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pure Cosmetic Pigment

What it is: A selection of pure cosmetic pigments for eyes, cheeks, or lips. What it does: This is 100% pure, uncut pigments. Makeup reduced to its most basic essential: color itself. This professional, matte-finish powder works alone if used sparingly. But, for truly optimal use, mix into other cosmetic bases including body lotions, loose powders, and OCC Skin Primer for a gel eyeshadow finish. What else you need to know: OCC Pure Cosmetic Pigments are available in six artist-approved, basic-necessity shades.Sephora is the exclusive beauty retailer for this product.

Royal Blue
-03.08.13
Quick Take: highly pigmented, hard to blend, might not be safe for lips, not crease resistant, multi-purpose, great product
I only have the color Royal Blue, so my review is really only based on that color. The color is an intense, pure blue color, and is opaque even without the use of water or mixing medium. The bad thing about that kind of intensity is that I find it does not blend as well as OCC's loose color concentrates.
I usually use it as eyeliner (make sure to use primer still because this is not crease resistant), but I have used it for other purposes. I have extremely dark hair that is hard to color/dye, but when I mix a little of this pigment with some leave-in conditioner, my flat black hair now has a little bit of blue sheen which gives it amazing dimension. For lighter hair, you could probably temporarily dye it with this color and leave-in conditioner. Another way I use this pigment is when I paint my nails and want to add some blue dots, I just sprinkle this pigment lightly over the freshly-painted nails (make sure you don't use nail polish that dries too fast, otherwise the pigment will not stick) and it gives a the look a little more pizzazz. But my favorite way to use this pigment is to mix it with my lip gloss and use it as an intense, blue lip look. While they would probably advise you not to use it for that purpose, I have looked at the ingredients and the only one that you have to be careful about is ultramarine blue. It is a very pH sensitive pigment that might react with the pH of your saliva and develop a "rotting smell" and can taste bad as well. As long as you are not prone to biting or obsessively licking your lips, it should not be a problem.
As for it's staying power, it is pretty average. Without primer or proper moisturizer, it usually falls out after four hours but lasts around eight to ten hours with primer.
I am sure there are more fun ways to work with this pigment, and I can't wait to try them out! Despite some of it's flaws, it is still a nice product with rich color pay-off and plenty of purposes. Also, you really get a lot of product for the price as compared to most cosmetics sold at Sephora. :)

Good Pigment
-02.06.13
Loved the concept and the color shown. However, it takes forever to get any OUT of the container! So frustrating...am ready to take the shaker lid off the jar. Also, when I did get some of the product out....it was more of a rosy/pink color versus the pure violet I expected from the picture.

Gorgeous!
-12.18.12
Quick Take: blends easily, highly pigmented
I ordered the Magenta pigment from the OCC website earlier this year, and though I don't wear it as much as I should, it's fantastic. It's so incredibly pigmented and it's really smooth in application as well, not patchy at all. I like to use it with a waterproof sealer (I use the MUFE one) and do a winged liner with it. It looks gorgeous. Make sure to use a base (like a cream shadow/primer) as they have a tendency to stain. I'm planning on getting the Royal Blue color, please sell these in stores! The price isn't too bad either, get them!!!
