Best Setting Powder
-05.22.13
Quick Take: reduces shine, brightening
I really love this powder from NARS! I've used MUFE HD powder and tarte amazonian clay powder and this is the best product for me. It has just a hint of shimmer (not overwhelming at all!) that just makes your face glow. It's an excellent setting powder that's definitely worth trying.

Great Setting Powder

Quick Take: reduces shine, brightening
I love this powder. I've used MUF HD powder and Tarte amazonian clay powder but this is the best one for me. The other two are also good but this one has little flecks of shimmer (just a little, not super glittery) that just makes your skin so much brighter. It may not be for everyone but I love it.

Love the compact...actual powder is pretty good
-05.21.13
Quick Take: sheer coverage
This is pretty similar to comparable powders yet it is great to have in compact form. It is really lightweight. I prefer smashbox's powder over this formula but will use it while I have it.

Perfect setting powder

Quick Take: sheer coverage, reduces shine
Doesn't dry my skin our or leave a residue. There is a soft, diffused glow that this provides without looking sparkly or shimmery. I have found my setting powder!

Does nothing at all

No matter what I apply it with, I never feel like this is depositing on my face. It's like it doesn't pick up on the brush/puff.

Quick Take: oil-absorbing, reduces shine, sheer coverage
I love Nars. He gets the kind of makeup I like very right and have been very impressed with every product I have tried from the line. The tradition continues. This is perfect for taking with me and adds a nice finish over makeup, making flaws a little less noticeable and providing a little more matte to my t-zone area.

nice.

Quick Take: lightweight, invisible
I'm usually anti-powder because I am on the dry side and love the moist sheen of tinted moisturizers, liquid foundation, etc and hate to cover that up. However, if I want my makeup to last, and keep my mascara from smudging, I have no choice but to set it with finishing powder. So glad I found this one- it's incredibly light (you barely see any even on a black powder brush) and does its job well. I use it on my undereyes, which is risky when you have fine lines, but it doesn't emphasize them at all. It leaves the skin less matte than most powders. It's more of a natural finish, because you don't see shimmer either. My favorite way to apply it is to press it over my concealer with a sponge, rather than dusting with a brush.

Perfect Setting Powder!
-05.11.13
Quick Take: reduces shine, sheer coverage
I've been looking for the perfect powder to put over my BB cream. I have combination skin and need something to set it. I asked the director at the local Sephora store for some recommendations and she lead me straight to this powder. I was worried since having an indian skin tone, it may leave a white powdery tone to my skin. So this morning I went to put it and on and WOW! First off, it's incredibly light and almost invisible. I have a large black powder brush and that helped me see it. Right after I put it on I was worried, I didn't see an immediate change and I thought I would have to return it. Well 5 minutes later it made my skin beautiful! My pores were nearly invisible, my skin had this gorgeous glow, and somehow it made my blotchiness go away. So far I love it! Way better than I initially thought. So glad I walked into Sephora last night!

I have been using Mineral Veil for years and decided to give this a try during the 15% off sale. I am so glad I did. This is so light weight and doesn't add a cakey look. I will not be going back to the mineral veil.

Leaves a sheen
-05.06.13
This powder leaves a nice sheen, which looks beautiful, but doesn't mop up oil. I've got dry cheeks and an oily nose & chin that need control. Sheen + oil = not good.

It works good for me. The only thing I don't like is I can't put the applicator inside the case, It makes my quick touch up not so quickly.

Quick Take: sheer coverage
Very sheer. Yes it's invisible, basically, on the brush but it does apply. On me it looks good for about four hours and then it's like I never applied powder. I find my hourglass ambient powder serves a better purpose than this. Really wanted to love it, but hate hate hate having to reapply numerous times.

Invisible
-05.03.13
Quick Take: sheer coverage, reduces shine
I was so happy to find a translucent powder that is actually translucent. Other setting powders I've used such as Tarte Smooth Operator and BE Mineral Veil are definitely visible even with a light hand and lots of buffing.
I love that once applied this really is invisible (unless you use a huge amount of it). A lot of people have commented that they can't see the powder and don't think it does anything, but the point of this powder is that it makes your skin better without it being obvious that you are wearing powder. It softens and mattifies the look of foundation and reduces shine but doesn't leave that awful dull, caked look that a lot of powders do. It doesn't emphasize pores and gives a soft focus look.
I also really like the fact that you can actually reapply this powder during the day without it caking, which I haven't been able to do with any other powder. I reapply this at lunchtime and my makeup still looks fine at the end of the day. Also, I've found this works really well to camouflage redness and dark spots if you pat it more heavily on a spot you want to cover (I swirl my finger in the powder and pat in on a red patch on my cheek and it covers really well).
I don't think this provides the absolute best oil control (I do think BE and Tarte work a bit better in this area), but it still does a good job, and for the beautiful finish I can sacrifice a bit of oil control.

NARS vs. Makeup Forever Hi Def
-05.01.13
Quick Take: sheer coverage, reduces shine
I had been using Makeup Forever's HD powder and liked the results. I decided to give NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Power a try and WOW, what a finish. This powder is light and it's light reflecting properties really make my wrinkles less noticeable. I don't have oily skin so I wasn't concerned about absorbancy but I do like the way it makes my skin look a bit dewy.

Perfection
-04.26.13
Quick Take: oil-absorbing, reduces shine, sheer coverage, light
I don't do a full face everyday, but when I do I need my make-up to last. I needed a blotting powder to use with my MakeUp Forever foundation and this is the perfect addition to it. I love the feel of it on my finger, feels like nothing that's amazing when putting it on top of an already light foundation. I used this on a rather nice Chicago day and it helped my foundation last ALL day. I only had to apply it twice during the day. It didn't get heavy nor cake up. This is a must use. It adds no extra color and feels GREAT on.
