drying, but worth it
-05.23.13
I feel like I'm just repeating everyone else here, but these are crazy drying. I use a lip scrub and everything, but I still have to reapply lip balm after the lip tar dries. It also takes quite a while for a layer of lip tar to dry, so if you're applying Hoochie or Lydia, the only 2 I find need two layers, then you need apply one thin layer, do ALL your other makeup, then come back and finish up. Those two things against it, if your layers are thin enough, and if you let it dry totally before you apply lip gloss or balm, it will last ALL day. It's the only lip colour that lasts through meals on me, and the colour payoff is outstanding. This kit is great for mixing, too. Just go easy on Iced, it lightens very well so you only need a tiny bit for mixing or it'll turn out too light.

Interesting product
-05.23.13
Quick Take: pigmented!!, great value
Like everyone else said, this product has amazing pigmentation. The surprising part was the feather light weight of it! Like a lot of other people said, it is a bit drying and takes a while to apply (though I find myself doing it much faster as of late). I should probably also mention that i have dry skin, so exfolitation, lip balm, and lip liner are a must for me for this product. I also find that the "dryness" level varies depending on the colour (i.e. I found Pretty Boy much less drying than Kava Kava). Staying power is pretty decent, but nothing spectacular which was a bit dissappointing for something with "tar" in the name. Due to the dryness level, I find that it fades a little awkwardly and unevenly for the some colours, but this can be remedied with well moisturized lips.
All in all, the colours in this set are actually my lease favourite of all 3 lip tar sets as I think this set was meant more for mixing than straight application (specificially iced (i.e. white frost) and hoochie (i.e. purple)). But still very fun if you want to experiment and the pigmentation of the formula still boggles my mind.
Will definately try to pick up V3.0 to continue with my newly found lip tar fascination.

Good
-05.22.13
Lip tars do last almost all day the only complaint I have is that it bleeds when my lips get dry. Maybe I am using too much so I'm going to try using less & purchase the lip primer. I really like the colors in the set as well I am able to mix & make my own lip colors which is Awesome.

Quick Take: unique yet practical
This kit is a great value! I first purchased a single tube if Granda at IMATS NYC this past April and was really impressed with the pigmentation and the non-sticky feel to it. I didn't by the lip base...just used my own clear gloss and it works wonderfully. The color lasts several hours without drying and all you need is a tiny drop of the stuff to cover your lips and I've got pretty full lips.
Now about the kit. I wasn't too excited about the colors in this kit, because I'd already tried the Kava Kava and found it to be too light for me. But I ended up getting this one instead of the other, because I didn't need another Granda. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! It turns out that I do like the Kava Kava, but my favorite is Lydia.
The truth is with this kit you can create your own color, deepen it or sheer it out. Highly recommend,

Disappointing
-05.14.13
As a former makeup artist, I was really looking forward to Lip Tar; I had read about it a while back and just knew it was going to be awesome. It was not. At all. There was little staying power; it bled into my lip lines. The pigment was mediocre except on the lilac colored one. And it tasted terrible. I will be sending this back. Don't waste your money.

Not at all long lasting.
-05.11.13
Quick Take: not long lasting
Although I loved the look & shades of these tars they simply did not stay at all. I tried with & without the clear lip tar & were off in less tan an hour even when not eating! It is much too much effort to reapply this product so they are being returned. I just don't get how others had them last forever?

I haven't experimented much with lip tars yet since I purchased them. The colors in this kit are gorgeous. I went back a week later to purchase the other kit and it was sold out. I do know that the tiniest amount goes a long way!

Pro's Lip Tar Set - 5 Stars
-05.05.13
Quick Take: pro's picks lip tar set
I am a huge make up fanatic. I love lots of brands, but lipstick is hard to find for me. I am olive complected, nothing ever seams to look right. I don't like my lipstick to smell like food or to be too sticky. I like smooth- long lasting great color. I was clearly told when I bought this product that it needed to be used lightly. I agree. You will look like your prepping for the circus if you use to much. This product has all of the qualities I have dreamed of in a lipstick. I LOVE IT. It looks great you can mix the colors and make it just what you wanted. There cool colors - make sure that works for your look. Also make sure to buy a retractable lips brush and use a moisturizer. If you don't mind using your fingers that works, but be sure you have a way to clean your hands afterwards.

A Great Way to try Lip Tar!
-04.27.13
Quick Take: smooth, long-lasting, mixable, staying power!
I'm a junkie for lipstick, gloss, or stains. I've admired the OCC Lip Tar but felt overwhelmed by all the color choices! When I saw this set, and read the reviews, I thought it would be a great introduction to the product, and it is! You can create so many different shades from the five colors, which is fun!
My main tip is to exfoliate your lips and possibly use a base (I use Guerlain Kiss Kiss Liplift and a bit of hydrating lip balm) before applying the Lip Tar. After it sets, it lasts all day, and if your lips dry out, just carry a bit of chapstick to hydrate and your lips will look luscious all day long!

This is my first time trying a lip tar or any type of liquid lipstick so i honestly didn't know what to expect. I did line my lips to give me some sort of guide but didn't fill them in, so far ive used hoochie and pretty boy which was the main reason i purchased the set. I initially used fresh lip polish to prep my lips but didn't notice it helping so the 2nd time i used lush lip scrub and that helped more. I applied a balm after to let it sink in whilst doing my makeup and once i was done and lined i found it easy to apply the lip tar. the lip brush is great, awesome precision. You literally need the tiniest amount. i maybe used 2 pin drops. i apply one dot onto the brush and then add more if i need, they are super pigmented and go a long way
Because of the formula i did expect them to be a little drying which is why i prepped my lips first. after about 1.5hrs it felt slightly uncomfortable so i added some jack black balm over top. i did not have my brush with me, that would have been easier but it didn't effect the wear. It felt a little dry again close to 5hrs so i took it off. to wear it longer i might have to add balm over- top more than once, so that was my only issue. Overall i think its a great concept. i would only purchase brighter colors though due to the prep and time involved in making them work.
