I'd been using the Sultra curling rod for over two years when I saw the sephora email for the 3 day bender set. I had recently been to Drybar and liked how the curling iron was a real curling iron (much easier to use!) and it keeps the ends of your hair curled as well (which is much tougher to do using a burning hot curling rod). The innovative "spin" system which seemed odd turned out to be the most amazing thing ever. Grab middle of hair, lock it in, and spin!
I love the hairspray too! Smells nice and lets you comb your curls out even with the hairspray in it for a more natural look. I do agree with the other reviewers that a manual would have been nice. I actually went to the Drybar to ask for directions (the ladies there were NOT the most generous with their time).
I do still see some split ends from the curling but I guess that happens with any curler. Highly recommend!

Quick Take: frustrating slow unintuitive
This is the most frustrating curling iron I've ever used. There are no online tutorials for it, and only a brief generic sentence about how to use in the manual.
When you get a curl right it's beautiful, I will grant it that. But it takes just as long as a regular curling iron. Unfortunately I'm returning it for the 1' inch Sultra.
Oh, and the Hairspray actually is awesome. I would buy more of that.

Amazing Tool

Quick Take: great tool
It's a great investment since the product is brilliant! It will makes curling easy yet in the beginning, you might get frustrated cz it's different from a traditional curling iron. Watching the video in the Sephora TV is a must so you'll get a short trick or an idea on how to use it. Once you'll get the hang of it, you'll be amaze how quick and easy it works. It only comes with a little information and it comes with a holder which allows you to put it down when needed. It doesn't have a temperature control which for me that have a fine thin hair, I needs to put a heat protector oil so my hair doesn't look fried and protected from the heat. (I use the 100% treatment oil from dry bar but the Agave oil is amazing) the clip won't really hold your hair so start twirling in the middle a little close to the end so the hair will hold and allow it to slide downward for an easy curl.

Quick Take: cool - worth the expense!
I ordered this as an impulse buy, not sure if I was going to keep it or not. But I like it! It makes curling my hair very easy, my only criticisim is that it doesn't have an adjustment for heat - I have fine/thin hair and like to adjust the heat. Also, the instructions could have been better. But try it, you'll like it! Oh, and it is easy to learn the technique.

I highly recommend going into your local Sephora if you have one to get an in person tutorial on the curling iron. It takes some getting used to but once you do it's seriously awesome with some awesome sauce! The curls are perfect and they last 2 days. I use with their cream soda styling cream and its as close as it gets to getting a blow out at drybar. So happy I got this :)

Quick Take: amazing.
This is the best styling tool I've ever used. I LOVE IT with all my heart. I have very curly hair and my 3 day bender makes my hair smooth with trendy curls.
It does take awhile to get used to the spinning barrel and learning that the clamp does NOT hold your hair.
WHen I bought it the spray wasn't included! Bummer!!!
I'm waiting to visit the US to buy the blow dryer next!

i guess you could call me a pro when it comes to curling irons. i've been using them since they first came out replacing rollers. i've owned many! LOVED this one from the very first use. amazingly simple to use. love how my hair looks. also, awesome spray that comes with it. i'm back to get another spray to keep on hand because i'd hate to run out

I purchased this with high hopesand it didnt disappoint. At first when I was twirling it on the rod it wasnt working right I got really frustrated and vowed to take it back. But then I just started rolling it on like a regular curling iron and voila it worked like magic. The curls stayed all day and you can ask anyone my hair doesnt hold a curl for nothing unless I use a half a bottle of hair spray. I could only use curls for a half look but this is so worth every penny.

I'm not so great at doing my hair and the curling iron makes my hair really easy to do. Starting mid shaft, it gives perfect curl and doesn't leave any crimp at the end. The hair spray is really flexible and doesn't leave your hair stiff. I've gotten my hair done at Drybar and I feel like I can achieve similar results at home.

Quick Take: needs a demo video
I'm exactly like the last reviewer... bought this with the discount and then begrudgingly liked it. It did take some getting used to. A few people who said the clip is bad and their hair fell out probably started too far up their hair. I've got very long hair (24") and found that if I started too close to my roots that the hair fell out. When I started a little closer to my tips (maybe 8" away) it worked much better. After it rolls up the bottom you can keep twisting the clip and it rolls all the way up to your root. Definitely took some playing with to get the hang of it. I would have appreciated if the seller had a demo video.
Another thing I liked is that there's no temperature dial. I'm a bit hair-tarded and only recently started doing anything with my hair (with mixed success), and anything that takes out guess-work is my friend. I found the single temperature of this wand perfect.
Why 4 stars and not 5? This is by far the most expensive curling iron I've bought. I usually stay within the $20-30 range. I'm not sure what exactly makes this worth $100 more. However, I can see an obvious difference with this iron. My hair feels (and looks) silky after I curl it, not stiff and quasi-fried like with my cheap curling iron.
SUMMARY: I did not put in any product and the curl is holding. My hair looks good and the rotating clip made curling much easier in half the time (and I didn't get clamp marks near my tips), so I'm happy.

I really did not want to like this product. I spend way too much on make up /hair and I just got it because of the VIB discount this week. i LOVE this curling iron. I've tried them all- sultra included. This is so easy to use.. You can even twist it to make sure you get the very ends of your hair. Theres no clamp marks and the curls are absolutely gorgeous. I have to keep this!!!!

Finally I've found a curling iron that works for me! I had previously bought the Sulta wand and despite all the glowing reviews from others, the iron just did not work for me, so I returned it. I had pretty much given up hope for finding an iron that was not a wand, did not leave me feeling like I was totally damaging my hair, AND gave me the style of curl I wanted. Fast heat up time (though I allow it to heat while I shower each morning) and is so easy to use. I have not timed myself but I would say my hair is styled under 10 minutes now. I have not had to go back and re-curl once. First go and its perfect! The curls last all day, though I'm not sure if this is thanks to the iron itself or the accompanying hairspray. Hair spray is not a strong hold and has a lovely, fresh fragrance to it. I also bought the hair clips which is an improvement over the pony-tail holders I had previously been making do with.

I'm pretty handicapped when it comes to hair styling. I have really massive, thick hair that is always such a pain to part and style. At first, I hated it. It really does take a day or two to get used to, at least if you're like me and special when it comes to hair. It's awkward, but curling from the root speeds the process up. Plus, you barely have to hold out it. With smaller sections, I just twist the clamp around slowly and when it falls out, I have curls! The cord is kind of annoying and long, but for easy curls with minimal heat, it's soooooo worth it. Plus, Money Maker is a great hairspray if you want to keep your hair loose and soft. It's light, smells pretty good, and doesn't stiffen your hair.

Quick Take: heats quick, curls fast
I am undecided on the hairspray at the moment, but the curling iron is amazing! I had been using what I thought was a good curling iron, but decided to treat myself to a new one. And I am so glad I did. This heats up quick and curls REALLY well. I am able to curl much larger sections of hair and only need to keep the iron in my hair for a few seconds. It has cut my curling time in half, and I no longer burn myself! I think it's the rotating barrel. It took some getting used to, but now I find it so much easier than traditional irons. The trick is to work from the top down, instead of the bottom up as you normally would. You simply clamp the iron at the top of the section you are working with, and as you rotate the barrel it pulls the rest of the section up and through the clamp. It was very counter intuitive at first (and the were no instructions) and I got my hair twisted once or twice, but it really is much easier to work with once you re-wire your brain. I absolutely love the beachy waves this gives me, and in half the time! Definitely recommend.

Quick Take: fun, easy, lightweight
I wasn't on the look-out for a curling iron, and I am not very skilled with curling irons in general (I cannot use an iron with a clip - only the clip less ones- I'm quite challenged :) but this one caught my attention. This iron is truly amazing- it is quick and easy to learn and what's great is there is barely any hand/arm motion involved at all. Also the color is adorable and I LOVE the little quote on the clip! I also noticed that my curls lasted all day with only a little hairspray.

I am a hot roller girl. I can't use an iron without multiple burns and swears. This was really fun. Pros: you can easily hand twist the top half without getting tangled. The color is funky and i got decent curls with no burns. Plus it comes with a setting rest. Cons: I have baby fine hair and it seems like if you don't section it with heavier pieces it slips out really easily. This the clamp isn't holding your hair tightly so you have to be delicate when rolling otherwise it slips out fast and then comes the cursing. Also good to note I got the hair clips too and they helped immensely. I'm willing to try to master this as I love the idea of twisting with your fingers instead of your wrist. The curls came out great for a beginner. The clamp may be an issue.
