I love getting gel nails because they're super shiny, long-lasting and durable. I thought I would get similar effects from this top coat. Not true.
The top coat is indeed super shiny, but that's all that's "gel"-like about it. After about 2-3 days, there were cracks in my top coat. In another 2 days after that, the polish started chipping at the points where the cracks are. If anything, I'd use this top coat if I have a nice event I'm going to in the next day or so, but can't count on it being anywhere near durable.
Also, it took forever to dry. I let it dry for an hour, then walked around. Somehow, a few hours afterwards, I brushed my finger up against something and the polish smudged. :(

Good, but not quite like gel

I love the look of the super shiny gel manicure but 1. Can't commit to one color for 2 weeks (I need to switch it up) and 2. Can't afford it. So this looked like a good option that wouldn't break the bank, would still allow me to change up my colors every few days and give me that plump, shiny coating I wanted. It's good, but not as thickly glossy as a real gel mani. But it is better than the OPI top coat I had been using, so I'm pretty satisfied. Still very shiny and long lasting!

I saw this advertised in a magazine for a "gellish" look but you can remove it with reg polish remover. It's true..it has great shine & dries quick...I really like it

Quick Take: junk!!, waste of money!!!
This stuff DOES NOT work. It is supposed to make your polish last and it chips within hours. Total waste of money!!!!WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE IT ONE STAR BUT I HAD TO IN ORDER TO SUBMIT THIS REVIEW!!!

This top coat has a very thick consistency when you apply it but it dries surprisingly fast. It also leaves your nails feeling harder as if you got a gel manicure from the salon. It looks beautiful for the first day. However I have found that it chips with my most used polish. Also it's not tiny chips, it's HUGE chunks of polish. I sadly will be returning this. I have noticed it works better with some brands of nail polishes and not others.

Quick Take: chip resistant
While I do like the top coat I normally use, I thought I'd give this a try. I was hoping for a smooth, sleek, high shine finish that wouldn't chip right away. My main curiosity was if it would provide a shinier finish than my usual top coat. I followed the instructions exactly. While it definitely is a hard top coat that didn't chip easily, it had a weird finish. It wasn't any shinier than my usual top coat and yet it wasn't quite smooth. Not that there were dents in it or anything, I'm not quite sure how to describe it. Since it took so long to let it dry so that I would avoid it getting dented, I ended up returning it. My usual top coat has just as much shine but dries quickly and leaves a smooth finish and has the same chip resistant time. Which is too bad, as I am a fan of Nails Inc.

I love this top coat! My nails looked shiny and didn't chip for a full week! I don't know that I necessarily see the "plumping" effect but they do achieve a more gel like finish compared to other top coats I have tried.

I have thin, weak nails and this extra thick coat of polish definitely adds some strength. I don't think it's gel polish shiny but it definitely adds more shine than a regular top coat. I got hooked on the shininess of gel polish but am taking a break from that right now so this is a nice substitute. It lasts about a week for me.

Shiny Gel Look and Lasting

Quick Take: shiny long lasting well-worth-it
For those who have no patience or money for a gel manicure, there is no need with Gel Effects. I used it on top of a normal O.P.I. sephora nail polish and it looked and lasted quite awhile. Nice and shiny. The top coat went on easily and smoothly. Yes, a real gel manicure lasts a long time it it costs a lot and takes a long time to apply. This takes minutes, dries quickly and works well for me.

It chipped after a couple of hours and I didn't even do any dishes or anything. Also, if you don't apply it quickly it does turn into a stringy goopy mess. I've never had a real gel manicure but this doesn't look too different from my regular top coat. I'll probably keep it but won't be buying it again.

Long lasting top coat

Quick Take: long lasting
I tried both this and the Julep polymer top coat. The Julep one started chipping the next day and was a huge disappointment. This top coat has lasted longer than any other top coat I have ever used. I applied it according to the instructions and it looked as good one week later as it did when I first applied it. I would recommend this product.

Quick Take: just a plain old topcoat
Don't get me wrong, this is a nice top coat. It just doesn't do the 'extras' that it claims to do. I see no extra shine, plumping or even a longer lasting manicure. I am going to keep it and use it until it's gone but I won't repurchase. Based on it's failed claims I should probably give it 2 stars but like I said, it IS a nice top coat and I like this brand.

Not a good product

I applied this top coat, and even though I liked the look, it chipped and started peeling off after only an hour. All I did was drive and looked down to see a huge chip. Very disappointed and returned immediately. The rep at my local Sephora store said it was long lasting! Not true!

I hated this- stringy like glue. It bubbled. Put it on an hour before bed and STILL had sheet marks the next day. Didn't look like gel nails. Do not recommend this.

Quick Take: goopy, sticky, not hard
Had to return - which I hate to do. It ruined my manicure by turning my nail polish into a sticky goopy mess. Never hardened and left my nails dented.
