sweet soft and spicy

This perfume was given to me on Mothers Day and it is enchanting and addicitive. It is sweet but subltly so. It does remind me of a grown up version of rootbeer. I love it and so does my 21 yr. old daughter who purchased it for me. It's ok, I can share my mothers day gift. I love the bottle color too.

Not for me
-05.05.13
Quick Take: very strong
The scent is a little too strong for me. It's very cinnamon-ny. Not what I expected, but it's not horrible

I've been buying this perfume for years now. Yes, it used to be stronger but I still love it. I also have the Eau Sensuelle, a slightly softer version. They don't smell like any other frangance out there!

OMG

Quick Take: good value
There are absolutely no words for this perfume except PERFECT. This perfume is very unique. It smells exactly like root beer mixed with sugar. After a while, the smell sweetens up even more. This is my all time favorite perfume. This perfume lasts ALL day. It lasts up to several hours, and when it finally wears off, you can still smell it if you really try. my boyfriend loves this perfume to death too. This smell can be smelled from a mile away. I wore this with a heavy jacket and I smelled it through the jacket. Deffinitly a night time fragrance. Very warm smelling...winter associated. LOVE LOVE LOVE. 5 STARS

Best Scent Ever

Quick Take: good value
When I lived in Bamberg Germany from 2000-2005 all I wore was hypnotic poison. It was my signature scent. I plan on buying it again soon and sticking with it. I loved it! Well worth the price! I can't wait!

AWESOME
-04.12.13
Quick Take: good value, sweet
Amazing fragrance. I'm a guy and I wear this. I've always believed that fragrance knows no gender, and if you like it, wear it. I've gotten so many compliments on this by both men and women. The only problem I have with this is the sillage and longevity. I've been wearing it this past winter, so maybe it projects better in the summertime, although I've heard it can be a bit overbearing in warmer weather. This is a feminine fragrance, but there are certain elements that definitely make it wearable for a man. If you have a sweet tooth, this is for you. It opens with a kind of Root Beer/Dr. Pepper note, then sweet almonds with a bewitching, powdery finish with a somewhat coconut-y hint. I don't detect any strong floral or fruity notes, which makes this a lot more approachable for men. If you're a guy and a fan of gourmands, definitely pick this up!

I LOVE this scent
-04.02.13
Quick Take: good value, sexy
This is a truly gorgeous scent - one of the handful of woody-spicy scents that does NOT contain patchouli. Though it's squarely in the "gourmand" family, nothing else smells even similar! It's rich and warm, sexy, and feminine without being at all girly. The spice and wood notes are much stronger than the tuberose, making it a great choice for those who find florals cloying but citrusy scents too sporty and casual. And it's NOT one of those girly vanilla-jasmine accords - sambac jasmine is a different thing from standard jasmine, distinctly sharper (and more expensive - this perfume is actually quite reasonably priced compared to many). With the deep red bottle, the cinnamon-spice notes, and the name, it always makes me think of Snow White's poison apple - I could see the Evil Queen wearing this scent.
This is a scent for a woman with a strong sense of her personality and sexuality, well suited to an artist (or an artists muse). Think goth-grown-up; maybe Dracula, but NEVER Twilight. The kind of woman this suits would definitely wear the deep red of the bottle, both for clothing and as a lip color.
Its only flaw is that it's a little heavy for summer, but I've yet to find a summer scent in the same family that doesn't load on too much citrus or too much girly sweetness (I'm to the point of trying men's ones!). Especially in warm weather, do not over-apply - this is a strong scent with good staying power, so use sparingly. I apply it by spraying twice in the air and walking through, and that's enough for everyday use (yes, this IS my everyday scent) - I might do one direct spray for evening.

My secret weapon!

Quick Take: good value
Okay guys...I almost hate reviewing this because I feel like this perfume has been my secret for years. This is my go to for nights our with friends and dates. Men LOVE this and you know its an amazing perfume when females compliment me on it as well. I literally have gotten stoopped on the street and in the most random places with people asking me what the scent is. This stuff is so amazing and makes me feel so incredibly sexy. Ive been using it for years and I wont ever stop. I have a million different perfumes that I always try and do use...but this is always my number one. The smell lasts a very long time too! Enjoy!

Since my first whiff of this perfume, I have been addicted to it! Don't know what I would do if Dior decided to stop making it. My clothes keep the scent , even after being washed. Not strong or overpowering , just DELISH!!

i can't stop smelling myself. this scent is warm, creamy, exotic, and intoxicating. at first, it seemed a tad powdery on me, but within an hour it settled into this beautiful jasmine, vanilla, and almond scent. you can definitely notice this if you get close to the skin, but it's not the sort of scent that will overpower every room you walk into. lots of perfumes can give me a headache after a few hours but this one doesn't at all. it's warm and lush and very difficult to resist.

The sexiest Scent!
-02.01.13
Quick Take: reusable, good value, travel-friendly
I was attracted to the color of the bottle and decided to take a small sniff. I was immediately obsessed with the scent and could not stop smelling it. It has a very seductive smell that's wearable for the day and night. I sprayed myself with it before purchasing it and people complemented me on scent where ever I went, it also last all day. This is a fragrance that I will continue to purchase.

Secretly Chocolatey
-01.21.13
Quick Take: sexy
I really, really like this perfume. I went into Sephora looking for a fun, unusual scent to wear, and this was the one I went home with. I normally hate musky, 'nighttime' scents, but this is honestly unlike anything I've ever smelled before. I know that it's 100% not in the listed ingredients, but this perfume smells like malted chocolate to me. It smells very strongly of vanilla and musk if you stick your nose up to the bottle, but when sprayed, it's completely different. I smell a wonderful mix of musk, cocoa and jasmine when it's on a 'tester' or on my skin. As for wear time, I put it on my wrist at 12:00PM and could still smell it twelve hours later. It's a happy, comforting and subtly sexy scent that I'm very glad I bought!
Summary:
Smells like: Cocoa, musk, jasmine
Wear time: ~10-12 hours

Warm and Inviting
-01.15.13
Years ago, I saw this in a store and was attracted to its red bottle and name. “Hypnotic Poison” just sounds so seductive and mysterious, so I sprayed some on from the tester. And wow. I was not expecting such a strong, mature opening, so I put the bottle back and went on my way. But as the day went on, I couldn’t help from smelling my wrist. It has such a deliciously warm opening and smelled seductive and alluring.
I didn’t buy the perfume at the time, but it has been on my mind since I first sprayed some on. It has a most beautiful dry down in my opinion. I love the almond and vanilla combination—so delicious and inviting. I kept stalling on making the actual purchase because it is a warm scent that I would only want to wear for fall/winter and I kept questioning if it was too mature for me.
But this fragrance is undeniable and irresistible. I admit that it does open with a medicinal scent, as some others have noted. The medicinal smell disappears after a half hour, and then it goes right into the base notes of vanilla, almond, and sandalwood (and a hint of coconut still lingering in the background). My nose doesn't pick up on any floral middle notes on me at all, but I don’t mind since the vanilla and almond smell amazing together! The sandalwood also helps keep the fragrance creamy and woody, which prevents the vanilla from becoming too sweet. Spices, florals, and fruits are listed in this perfume, but the vanilla and almond are the star notes, especially vanilla. It’s not a sticky, candy vanilla, but it’s comforting and deep. If you are not a fan of vanilla and the warmth of almond and creaminess of sandalwood, stay far away.
This is truly the strongest perfume that I have ever worn; it has fantastic sillage and is a total powerhouse. It lasts several hours all day. One spritz on the wrist goes a very, very long way, so beware of abusing this scent. And when I put too much on myself, I easily get a headache, which never happens with other perfumes. So, I definitely apply lightly. Like the commercial with Melanie Laurent in which she places a little dab on a man’s lips, that little dab should do the trick. It’s bewitching! I don’t wear this daily just because it’s too heavy. Besides, I like keeping this fragrance special by using it on selective days.
So if you like vanilla and almond, and you want something comforting and inviting for the cooler months, try Hypnotic Poison. It’s one of my all-time favorite perfumes. My younger sister doesn’t really care for this scent—she says it smells like “old lady,” so it isn’t for everyone, but what perfume is? So try this one for yourself!
