I usually wear bare minerals but I saw this and thought I would try it. Worst mistake ever. I got the lightest shade and it makes me look orange. I would not advise ordering it online before trying it out in the store.

Quick Take: buildable coverage, natural finish
I previously had been using Make-Up Forever HD Foundation because as a light-skinned African American, it's hard to found make-up in the right shade, and that one had flawless coverage. Lately, after years of using it, it does not seem to work as good, and seem noticeable that I'm wearing make up. I gave this one a try, and it covers amazingly! Make sure you use a good powder brush! The only thing I don't like is it isn't "natural" for your skin, but at least it covers & matches. Bare minerals didn't have a shade that matched for me without making me look red or ashy!

Sheer but Effective, Nice Shades

As someone with Amerasian skin and a love of the "me-but-better" look, I find it extremely difficult to find makeup with a shade that doesn't look odd on me. Neutral colors are almost always too dark, and make me look dirty. Paler shades are usually too white or pink, and look as if they are floating in a ghostly image just a few millimeters above my skin. Amazing Cosmetics, however, has shades that work for me (slightly darker in summer, pale in winter), and the Fair shade is a nice neutral for the winter, the Medium Beige (light) adds a nicer level of tint for the sunnier months.
I like that sheerness of the minerals, though I do find that it doesn't cover some of the darker spots (nor my largish pores!) as much as I would like. That being said, my general preference is for a natural look that evens out tone and just improves the appearance of my skin. This makeup works well for that, and while it can look makeup-less, I do see a definite improvement in tone and creaminess on my face.
The only negative is that, fairly quickly I do find that my nose and cheeks get a little shiny. This is solved by using blotting papers, but it's still annoying. I would say my skin is normal and not generally oily, but this seems to make my face look oilier than it is. It's not a shimmer, since I don't see any in the makeup itself.

So kicking myself for buying this. Coverage is so light it's pretty much non-existent. After I put it on, my skin looked literally the exact same as it did before I put it on. Even after using my finger to dab it on some reddish areas, it only provided light coverage. What a waste of money. uugh.

Quick Take: natural finish
Been using the Amazing Cosmetics line for awhile. I used to use Clinique, but decided to switch since it didn't give me the coverage I needed any longer. What I love about this line is that it covers well and gives my complexion a flawless appearance and never looks cakey. I always get compliments about how it doesn't even look like I'm wearing makeup and I love that! Makeup should enhance your face not look like a mask in my opinion. My only complaint would be that it seems to wear off fairly quickly, requiring reapplication, but I'll stay with it and possibly try a primer. Maybe that will help. All the positives of this makeup are way more important to me than this one negative.

I love this product. I wear the Ultra Light and it works perfectly for my fair skin. It's very sheer and I'm lucky not to suffer too many acne outbreaks, so it gives me exactly what I'm looking for. But for breakout times I do dab a little of the liquid concealer from this line on top, and then apply the powder as usual.
So if you're looking for a foundation to cover scars or heavy blemishes, it may not be for you. But if you're looking for a light, sheer foundation that will keep your skin matte and polished looking, this is it.

This is honestly a good foundation for those who cant find the right shade because, they have a natural glow or are dark skinned. Usually foundations make your face look cakey and white and powdery. This foundation is just so light and it like has a tone of bronzer or something in it thats makes your face look radiant. I wear a liquid foundation lightly , then with a kabuki brush swift this all over. GREAT COVERAGE .

very pink, caked finish, drying, not my favorite compared to other mineral foundations, but when your favorite is out of stock then you try other alternatives, but when something works for you dont change it. If you have any redness do not use this product!!!!

i love it. it's the right color for my pale olive skintone (much better match than any Bare Minerals mixture) and you don't need to use a lot. it take me a year to use one container.

I had been using BE foundation, which I loved, but the color was too dark for my fair skin. I decided to try this brand since they had a lighter color option. The only positive with this foundation is that it matched my skin tone better (from what I could tell). This product provided absolutely no coverage. It was like I had put nothing on. That would be fine if I had nice skin, but I don't. To prove my point further, I was hanging out with my mom this past weekend and after a while, asked her what she thought of my new foundation. She said she was going to ask me why I had not put on any makeup that day. Not a good thing.

I tried this one as my Bare Essentuals was out of stock that day and this one is a perfect alternative. The dispensing needs some work though as too much of the product falls out. I like the coverage and my shade (medium) gives me a nice bronzy look.

This is the only mineral foundation i'll use, its silky smooth, and has long lasting wear. The color match is great!! It doesn't dry my skin out at all either. I love it, its just like the brand says ~ AMAZING!

I really like the velvet mineral powder. Most fair foundations are not quite the right color for me (pink fair) and this one seems to blend in perfectly. It can be built up for more coverage but their concealer covers very well and you need very little of it.
In fact is you use too much of the concealer then it will crease or move into wrinkles. I am fair skinned and use the ultra light. Some times I think the concealers tone varies but not the foundation. I think I'm on my 5th or 6th repeat purchase. In between I
ve tried Bare Minerals which is not my skin tone and had to give it away, mac mineral which is borderline my color, arbonne, def. not my color a give away and Smashbox halo which I do like and think is my color, except it costs a lot more than Amazing Cosmetics.

This is truly amazing makeup. I have always liked mineral makeup but others were a little light on coverage. I like a matte but natural look. To say I have mediocre skin would be an over statement but I get compliments all the time on my skin since I started using this make up.

i'm not superkeen on the concept of foundation. but if i'm going to wear it, i think it should actually do something! the pros: lightweight, excellent colour options available from the manufacturer, not "reflective" as some mineral foundations are. but the really big con: minimal (and i do mean minimal) coverage. back to sephora for you, vmpf!

I switched from BE to this product since it does not contain the irritant bismuth and I am absolutely hooked. With just a little bit brushed over your face you look flawless and at the end of the day it still looks amazing. Does not cake up like other products and has a very smooth finish. If you are looking for a lot of coverage this is probably not the prouct for you though.
