Stila Smudge Pots

What it is:A unique gel eyeliner and shadow in one. What it does:The verdict is in, and smudge pots take the prize for sexy eyes. The innovative and spunky alternative to traditional powder and liquid formulas, this clever little gel has an inky intensity that leaves powder shadows in the dust. The glass jar and airtight lid keeps the gel soft and pliable.

Great product!
-05.05.13
Quick Take: smudgable, long wearing, easy to apply, pretty
I bought the Stila Smudge Pot in the color Black Cat, which is black with sparkles. I planned on using it as an eyeliner. I really love this product! I apply it with a Sephora Pro gel liner brush and it goes on super smooth without pulling or tugging at my eye. I also have used Urban Decay shadow in Cobra over top to give it some extra flair, and it looks great. I am very happy with this purchase!

Quick Take: waterproof, smudgable, long wearing, great for learning
Love this gel eye liner. It is easy to apply, stays true to color all day and doesn't smudge or crack as the day goes on. I wish that an applicator was included however, I will use this product for a very long time

Love this product. Stila is a great brand. Plus they don't support animal testing!

I bought this in Kitten to use as an eyeshadow because I wanted the color but powder shadows crease like crazy on me, even with a primer. I often still use a primer under this but only because it's a habit. Either way, this has never creased on me, and that's a HUGE statement for me. It's a beautiful color and it blends well with other cream and powder eyeshadows as well.
The consistency is a bit dry, as other reviewers have mentioned, but I just make sure I don't leave it open long and close it tightly when I'm done. I also apply it with my finger instead of a brush, since it can get a little crumby and stiff on a brush. But honestly, these issues are minor in comparison to the benefits.

Drying
-04.14.13
I used this immediately after I purchased it. It was uneven and it dried up too quickly during application, as well as in the pot. I couldn't even use it a second time. Perhaps I bought a dud, but I will definitely not be repurchasing this. I returned mine.

Love

Love these smudge pots! Last for long hours and easy to apply. There's a lot of product in them too so they last a while! I prefer them over MACs because you get more in these for the same quality.

Smooth finish
-04.05.13
I love how smooth and easily this smudge pot goes on. I use it to draw cat-eyes and I always get compliments! They do dry out after awhile, you will need to replace them once that happens

Great "liquid" liner
-03.27.13
Quick Take: long wearing, smudgable, creamy, easy to apply
I'm a big fan of the smudge pot. Using an angled brush, you can have just a fine line (replacing a pencil) or you can put it on like eyeliner and then smudge to get a great smoky eye in combination with shadows. I have found that it stays on very well--even on humid/wet days. The texture is perfect for applying with lots of control and it comes off easily with just normal make up remover.

Using on the inner rim
-03.24.13
While I know it's not recommended I do use this on the inner rim (waterline) as well. Glides on nicely and stays longer than any pencil...not all day but still longer than a pencil.

solid!
-03.22.13
Quick Take: waterproof, long wearing
This is by far the best gel liner I've ever used. my eyes water in the cold nyc winter winds, and though my mascara may run, this liner does not! easy to apply and great color concentration. Make sure you have a good brush cleaner, though; and clean it after every application, because this gel will stay put on anything

Great, with 1 issue
-03.10.13
Quick Take: waterproof, long wearing, smudgable
I have two of these, black and brown, and I love them. They wear well all day and smudge when you want them to. But the brown liner, which I bought first, started to dry up after about 6 months. It is now about 16 months old and I'm about to pitch it because while I still have some left, it is really too dry to use. The black, on the other hand, at almost a year old, is as fresh as the day I bought it.

Not Good
-02.23.13
Quick Take: smudgable, dries up and flakes during application
I have tried a million eyeliners, from gel to cream to pencil to liquid. I originally started with Makeup4Ever gel liner (old formula) then they discontinued since, since I have tried every gel liner and still can't find a good one. This one flakes way to easily if you're trying to draw a line... it could be good for the inner rim (if you pack it with powder). But as a liner it smudges, flakes, dries up. I still have almost a full pot left and it's completely un-usable. I will stick to my sephora liquid liner until I can find a smudgeproof, flake proof gel that stays put!

Not a good liner
-02.23.13
Most eyeshadows seem to work great for white girls but are never really pigmented enough to show up on my skin. Smudge pots are definitely good for that. But I bought this for use as a liner and it just didn't work at all for that purpose. True to its name, it smudges way too easily. I couldn't get a good cat eye and I'd end up with raccoon eyes by the day's end. Had I known it was better as a shadow, I would have perhaps opted for a different color.

Great for young faces
-02.13.13
I loved this liner. I can smudge it, I can draw a perfect line and it stays forever. My mom on the other hand, hates it. She was trying to use it and she said it stuck to all her wrinkles.

used to be my go-to pot liner, but i've moved on
-02.05.13
The bottom line, from a girl who has tried many many pencil and pot liners, is that the Stila Smudge Pot liners are 1. Not very vibrant in color, 2. WILL flake off towards the end of the day and 3. Will start to disappear and/or start migrating to places it shouldn't be I.e. under my eyes. That being said, it has lasted longer than any other liner I have ever used before Until I discovered the YSL pot liner. The black black is amazing. If you have oily lids even with a shadow primer and/or work or live in an area with high humidity and want your liner to last alllll day and night long, just buy the YSL liner.

best gel eyeliner....ever
-02.01.13
i have tried many, many gel eyeliners. None have come close to stila's smudge pots. The texture of these are amazing. they go on smooth and silky and smudgeable, and they 'set' like a liquid eyeliner that won't budge or get rubbed off. Totally worth the money. I used to pay $40 for these in Australia, and still thought they were worth it!
