Phyto Phytocitrus Color Protect Radiance Shampoo

What it is:A radiance and energy-enhancing shampoo for color-treated or highlighted hair. What it does:This luxurious shampoo helps keeps color bright, vibrant, and protected. Grapefruit extract, which is naturally acidic, seals the cuticle to impart shine while sea buckthorn contains anti-free radical properties to lock-in color intensity and prevent fading. Its cleansing base, enriched with restructuring sweet almond proteins, gently washes while delivering incredible softness and shine from the first application. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens - Phthalates

Quick Take: hydrating, good for daily use
I love this shampoo (and pretty much all phyto products). My hair which is regularly highlighted looks shiny and soft.

A 5 BUT...
-03.31.13
Quick Take: nutritve, strongly citrus, hard to access
This is a great product, very effective. It pampers my color-treated hair and imparts a nice shine. The fragrance is acceptable, but my hair looks so good that I don't mind that it is not a stunning aroma. One drawback: the bottle is metallic; there's no give and it is impossible to squeeze out shampoo, so it's a bit unfortunate, to stand there in the shower waiting about for the product. Otherwise, highly endorsed!

Great Shampoo!
-01.29.13
Great shampoo, great light scent. I am a product junkie who usually has 2-4 shampoos in the shower and I think I've found "the one".
4 stars instead of 5 only because of packaging and it is good with one lather, great with two! I love a wash and go, but I do take the time for a second lather. My hair is quite short now- I'm talking 1-4 inches, depending on area - but I have worn it below shoulder length. I don't know that I'd manage with this shampoo with longer hair.

Great shampoo for occasional use
-12.23.12
I usually need to have two different shampoos on hand. My hair is fine, color treated and thinning a little. I use this shampoo one or two days a week because it does not seem to remove styling product buildup but it makes my hair feel great.

Nothing to brag about
-11.23.12
Quick Take: drying, ageing
I received a sample of a Phyto shampoo and bought this thinking it was the same. It was not. Left my hair very dry and aged looking. Not a good look!

A bit misleading
-06.11.12
I get my hair colored using Special Effects hair dye (a very pretty bright red-purple). My hair dresser uses this shampoo whenever she dyes my hair, and it is effective in getting all of the dye out of my hair and getting dye off my scalp. However, this shampoo does contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which is horrible for colored hair! With continued use, I find this to be drying, and color stripping. I would only use this 2 or 3 times after getting hair colored (including when my hair dresser uses it) to ensure that my hair color doesn't fade out. It's definitely not a daily shampoo; but it has its uses.

Use sparingly
-06.01.12
I use this shampoo as well as the Fine and Limp shampoo. I find this shampoo to be a bit more drying - most likely the grapefruit. It does provide volume and keeps color looks great. You will need to use a good conditioner and perhaps some Moroccan Oil on the ends of your hair. If I do that, it works well.

Surprised on first use of this shampoo at the thin watery liquid, much too much shampoo came pouring out into my hand. For an expensive shampoo, it should be thicker

Seemed to work pretty well for me :)
-02.03.12
I went to my local Sephora and talked to a very lovely sales representative who recommended this and gave me a sample. She told me that it would lock in my color. I have dark brown hair with a chunk of darker hair, and a teal underside, and I am ALWAYS looking for a shampoo that will lock the color into my hair. This seemed to work pretty well for me(I only got to use it once before the sample ran out), and I liked it. It also smells great!

Old loves die hard.
-01.16.12
Quick Take: foamy
I use to swear by this shampoo. My hair was nearly white-blonde and this was gentle enough to wash it without drying it out. The old glass bottles Phyto used in packaging was also endearing and luxurious. But, revisiting the old flame, the glass bottle has been replace by aluminum (?) and it didn't leave my hair with the gentle wash I remember. I'm better off just skipping washes to maintain my blonde and using a more moisturizing shampoo. It is gentle, but not as rich as I need for my hair.

I use this for two weeks after I highlight my hair (which is 3-4 times a year) and have really become attached to it. It's different from other shampoos I've used for sure, and definitely need extra water than usual to get it foaming. However, after I lather I definitely feel a difference in my hair as I wash it out. It makes my hair feel soft and it smells wonderful. Usually I only notice a difference in the feel of my hair after using conditioner, so this shampoo is a pleasant surprise. I use this with the Restructuring Mask and have noticed that my color stays vibrant and shiny for longer. Will I ever be disappointed with a Phyto product? Only time will tell...

Don't bother...
-12.01.11
Recommended by a store employee.
This product does not really work... It comes in a hard bottle (with no nozzle), so you have to be really careful when you pour some out- otherwise you're going to waste a lot.
When I placed it into my hair and "lathered" it like normal, my hair instantly developed tangles. It felt like it was over drying my hair... At least it smelled good.
Honestly, this product is suuuuper over-priced!!! Not worth it!

Quick Take: hydrating
I first tried this product when I received it in a bonus pack from Sephora. I have been using it daily since then. It does extent the life and vibrancy of my color - naturally. It doesn't feel like a regular shampoo in my hands, but it lathers nicely in my hair. I am certain that I use less of this than a regular shampoo. It nourishes my hair and I have more healthy shine and swing then I've had before. I love the conditioning mask too!

Fabulous for color treated hair. I use it along with the Masque and my hair feels great and light without the 'weight' so many products add to hair.

Great smelling gentle shampoo
-11.12.11
Quick Take: foamy, hydrating
I love the way all the Phyto shampoo's smell. This one is sweetly citrus, but light enough that it isn't going to linger in your hair like a perfume.
I love the way my hair feels after I use this, clean but not stripped or dry.
I color my hair red, so using gentle products are a must. I love that this is natural and plant based, but still foams.
My number one tip for all the Phyto shampoos is make sure your hair is super saturated before you begin to work it through and leave the shampoo on for a minute or two before you rinse.
