Frederic Fekkai Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo

Good for all hair types, but especially oily hair, this new shampoo rids hair of product buildup, chlorine, and environmental impurities. Real apple cider vinegar clears and clarifies the hair while apple, rosemary, verbena, and kukui nourish and protect it. Its deep cleansing does not strip the hair of its essential oils.

Wonderful clarifying shampoo!
-02.27.11
Quick Take: gentle, foamy, nice smelling
I have used the apple cider clarifying shampoo on and off for years. So far I have not found another brand which clarifies as well without stripping my hair of its moisture. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it in my mind especially because it will last a while if you only use it once every 1-2 weeks. Sadly Sephora no longer carries it in its stores, so buy it online if you can!

Love this stuff!

Quick Take: foamy
Smells like yummy apples! This is a clarifying shampoo.. meaning it is intense. I wouldn't use it everyday unless you have really oily hair or use a ton of product. I use once or twice a week and follow with the technician color care mask. My hair feels and smells awesome after. Not dry at all. My ends don't look crazy either!

Ehh.
-01.23.11
I bought this due to needing a clarifying shampoo for buildup in my hair and scalp. I saw the reviews and thought it must be good. Most of my purchases are bc of great reviews. Anyway, I used this a few times before I returned it and thought it didn't lather up as much as regular shampoos. It did smell great though.

Finally, a solution for oily hair!
-01.21.11
Quick Take: good for daily use, perfect for oily hair
If you have oily hair, this shampoo is a god-send! I have fine, wavy hair that tends to get oily. I have never been one of those girls who can go two days without washing my hair. After reading reviews on Fekkai Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo, I decided to try it out. And let me tell you, it was like finding that perfect little black dress that seems to have been made just for you! This shampoo gets my hair soft and clean, and it looks clean and shiny at the end of the day, and even when I wake up the next morning! I read some reviews that complained the product didn't lather up enough; although this is a sulfate-free formula (an ingredient added to make detergents lather up), it lathered beautifully for me. And if you're apprehensive about the vinegar, don't worry- the shampoo smells great, like apples. I follow the shampoo with Fekkai's "Au Naturel Weightless Conditioner," which makes my hair super soft but still gives my fine hair some much-needed volume.

Pretty Terrible
-01.06.11
Quick Take: terrible
I found this pretty terrible, I had to use so much to build up a usable lather it's ridiculous. I found a better effect by washing my hair with 1 tbsp shampoo mixed with 3/4 tbsp of baking soda (a good secret to get rid of buildup from products), then I did a rinse of 2/3 cup of water mixed with 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar (let sit a couple mins then rinse with clean water). It does wonders. Just let your hair air dry after the rinse (the vinegar smell goes away when it dries)

great product
-01.02.11
Quick Take: great for oily hair
I bought this for my husband, as the Aveda shampoo he has used for years is no longer available. He loves it! It does a great job cleaning his hair and scalp and leaves both smelling great. I highly recommend it for oily hair.

Nice citrus smell, but not worth the money!
-12.27.10
I got this recommended to me from a Sephora associate. I took it home and it barely lathers my hair. I have thick, long hair down to my bum. I had to use ALOT of product to get a desired amount of lather. It's not a big bottle, either for the price. I didn't see anything wonderful as a result of using this. I feel I could have gotten similar results from a drugstore shampoo. Then, for some reason it started to get watery inside. I check the cap and it was on tight, thinking water got into it from the shower. But I never had this problem with any other bottles in my shower. I wish I could have taken this back when I had the chance. Worst $23 bucks I ever spent. Don't let the name fool you. This shampoo was poor quality for me.

Absolutely amazing.
-12.27.10
Quick Take: good for daily use, gentle, smells amazing
I have fine/oily hair. I am italian so this is a lifelong joy for me. I've always used Aveda in the past and was happy but never thrilled. I needed a changed so I tried this. All I can say is it is amazing. My hair was left feeling softer and cleaner than it has ever felt. And it was like this the whole day! I use this every other day and it has had no effect on my hair coloring/highlights. I am not one to regularly give 5-stars. But this is worth twice that. Just make sure you follow with a light conditioner that works as a good detangler, you will need that. Lastly, the smell lasts the whole day. It smells wondreful.

Quick Take: good for daily use, gentle
This shampoo really is great for daily use and I find that it leaves my hair feeling very clean (my number one qualification for shampoo), it smells fresh, and I don't have to use a lot to get a good clean. I don't think the apple cider ingredient is a miracle component, but it does not weigh down my hair and it does not dry out my scalp like other brands that boast daily usage. It's not as foamy as I would like and it bothers me a bit that Fekkai does not make this in a 16 oz bottle, but overall it is a good product.

Absolutely one of my favorites!
-11.16.10
Quick Take: foamy
It is one of the few items I continuously get for years! Has very clean smell that makes my hair clean and glossy shine. The trick also is to rinse well with cold water. I have straight, virgin hair, so not sure how it is for other types.

Love at first sight :)
-11.02.10
I just fell in love with a shampoo! I can't believe it but, this really works. I have pretty thin hair, which can be oily or dry at times. But always with a lot of buildup from other shampoos, hairspray, etc. that I use. I can already tell this is a great product to use once or twice a week to get your hair back in shape. It's like I'm at a salon! :)

Great Once A Week
-08.23.10
I use this shampoo once a week to rid my hair of any other product buildup. It works great and doesn't dry my hair out. I stocked up on extra bottles, because I'm having a hard time finding it in stores. I hope they aren't going to discontinue this shampoo!

Removes the buildup
-08.09.10
Quick Take: foamy
I had higher expectations for this product. This product did a great job of stripping the oils and products out of my hair but left my scalp itchy and my hair feeling like straw. You need a good conditioner after using this. Not for everyday use.

Great at clarifying
-07.20.10
Quick Take: good for daily use
My daughter has very thick hair and gets horrible build up from other shampoos. This is the only one she has found that clears the build up and keeps her hair clean and shiny. Great product. I highly recommend it if you need to remove product build up.
