Quick Take: moisturizing
At first it smells heavenly. Like the real vanilla birthday cake. But when exposed to water, it smells like a bad plastic! Gross! It cleanse well and it's quite good for my sensitive skin. I just hate the after-5-seconds-scent

The smell is too artificial - which is not surprising given that you need a degree in chemistry to read through the ingredients. Also it doesn't make much foam. It cleans well, though, so it's ok but is not in the same league as other brands (e.g. Korres).

I used it first when given out as a birthday present by Sephora and have been using it since. The smell is so so yummy and it is a pretty good shower gel. I find it quiet moisturizing.

such a great smell!

Quick Take: best as a body wash
I tried this for the first time at my friend's apartment and decided I had to have some of my own. However, I had only used it as a body wash at her place, and for me and my hair, it's best if it stays that way. But it's such an intoxicating smell I'm willing for my hair to be a little limp if it smells that awesome!

This has a nice scent, Though my favorites are the Vanilla bean (and Ginger which I wish I could get more of), It lathers up good and leaves skin feeling smooth. I purchased this scent in smaller sized gift packs for my nieces this past Christmas and they loved it.

I love the smell of this! It's not too light and not to strong. It's just perfect. It really does smell like vanilla cake. I use it as a shampoo and a body wash and it makes my skin and hair SO soft! I love all the bubbles and the light sweet smell it leaves on my skin. I hope they don't ever retire this scent.

I got a bottle of this shower gel a few years ago as a VIB birthday gift. While I don't think this smells anything like vanilla birthday cake, it is a soft, gently sweet smelling shower gel that lathers nicely and feels rich and moisturizing. While there are other Philosophy scents I prefer, this is still a nice gel and receiving it as a free gift was very nice.

I've tried many philosophy bath/shower gel "flavors", and I always end up going back to this one. The scent is warm and comforting, but very light. It moisturizes my skin perfectly. I'm addicted!

I received a generous sample of this for their birthday gift a couple of years ago, and fell in love with it. I love how it smells and leathers up. It is nice for traveling too since it can be your shampoo and body wash, so you don't have to take two bottles. Did I mention it smells amazing?!
