holy grail

Cannot put my concealer, baking powder, or foundation without this beauty blender. Yes you can find cheaper and alternatives but it will never work as well as this. A lot of people say over time the brush gets nasty, yes I agree because it's a brush. Just like when u wash dishes, u cannot expect ur dish sponge to last forever. Would u even wash ur dishes for a whole year with the same sponge? No u wouldn't. So obviously u should as well change this brush often. It's pricey for a sponge but it's so worth it. I change my brush once every month to avoid any lingering bacteria that gets too deep and cannot be cleaned.

I love the product, but I don't love the price

This is a great (the original) beauty blender. It helps my foundation stay on my face and it doesn't make my face look cakey.
However, considering that you are supposed to replace the beauty blender every 3-4months or so, I think other cheaper dupe beauty blenders are more worth it. Sometimes the original beauty blender (and other dupe beauty blenders too) doesn't even last a month because it starts to tear apart.
I definitely recommend this product for its function, but won't recommend it for overall value. There are similar quality products with lower price out in the market. I knew this before, but I purchased this anyway because I was curious. The original beauty blender might have a slightly better quality, but it's totally negligible to me.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but I felt that this was an average makeup sponge that works just as well as drugstore wedge sponges that come in packs of 100 which can be disposed daily and cost 1/5 of the price.
It might have to do with the way I apply foundation (when I still used foundation)...I was getting great results with using a flat top brush and the beautyblender simply added to my application time and had zero effect on the finish, lasting powder, etc. I used for a good few months and gave it a fair chance, but I always just found that I preferred to reach for my brushes. Perhaps it's because I prefer light coverage foundations and BB creams, and you simply don't need a beautyblender for these.
Instead of the 1-2 pumps of foundation that I needed with a brush, the beautyblender absorbed more product and I found that the usual amount wasn't enough.
The beautyblender was also more labour intensive to clean compared to brushes. With my brushes, I use a daily brush cleaner and am done in 2 minutes (along with a full shampoo wash every 2 weeks), whereas a beautyblender takes a lot more water to clean daily. I simply could not use a sponge that's not clean so cleaning this weekly, or even every other day is not an option.
If this works for you, great! I"m happy that you've found something that works well. This simply isn't worth the cost for me. For the cost of 3 beauty blenders (which would last up to 9 months if you're lucky...and depending on how well you keep it clean for) I can buy a good quality brush that can last me years.

Favorite tool

I prefer using a sponge applicator for my foundation (Too Faced Born This Way) for an extremely natural and full coverage look. Other "dupes" such as the orange real techniques sponge do not compare. My first beauty blender lasted me 8 months, with weekly washings, without breaking down or changing shape or having any difference in application until the last week I had it. Fabulous tool!
